If my players met one of these and as far as they know they could all have the curse of lycanthropy, and send them to the local cleric for a cure?
and if they met a cleric of less than sterling alignment, he's sell them a 'cure' for 800 gp that they didn't need?
and could a player tell if ones of these animals was indeed a lycanthrope without running a lab test on it? lol. Or would they get a knowledge nature to tell it was a lycanthrope?
as in, how could a player know if a regular animal was cursed or not.

A KN Nature would tell your character if it was a were.
Why Knowledge? Wouldn't Perception make more sense, the animal shape being essentially a disguise?
Additionally, don't weres revert to their humanoid form if killed? (Dead give away there)
They do, but to know that should require Knowledge (Nature).

HA! Dead give away? Killed? I noticed your pun.
I think it could be a knowledge nature if the animal is alive to notice any strange behaviors, but perception could work if it was dead or alive.

KN nature ID's animals, that is what KN is for after all. Besides, KN nature is just going to tell you that that is not a genuine animal (I let my players ID that with a CR-5 as they get no bonus other then eliminate 1 option of what it might be)
Technically, a KN local is supposed to be used to ID that it A) is a were creature, B) it is weakened by silver, C) it reverts to humanoid form when slain.
