So my friend set up a fun little fight meant for 4 level 7 characters. We only had 3 people, though, so I took it upon myself to play 2. We had a Psychic, a Magus, a Mesmerist and a Medium (the last tow being my characters.)
I implemented all the official changes to the Mesmerist and included Beseech Spirits, Spirit Specialization and the Fiend spirit (replacing Beating) on the Medium.

A gargoyle moved first, charging at the Magus and missing (rolled a 1 which would become a running theme with enemies in this), then the Psychic went, setting up Haste for us all. The Magus full attacked the poor gargoyle and it was left in the dust. Next came my Mesmerist who used his Stare on the giant and managed to hit it and the elementals in Confusion. Miraculously, none saved (the DC 23 spell was going to require good rolls from all of them, but still..) and 2 elementals and the giant spent their turns doing nothing much of interest. The Medium went and tranced to obtain massive from the bear, getting into range to full attack the giant next turn. Gargoyle 2 and the fire elemental charged him, the gargoyle taking an aoo for his trouble. Again, both missed, despite needing only an 11 to hit my extra large target Medium. The giant got Hold Person'd by the Psychic next turn and the magus took out the fire elemental, while the Medium attacked the gargoyle and giant with his reach. The Mesmerist however, delayed as he heard the loud beat of wings in the distance...
At the beginning of the next round, only the giant and 2 elementals (who continued attacking themselves) remained. But then... the Young Red Dragon came. It scorched the Medium and Mesmerist badly and hovered above us all taunting with its distance.
Unfortunately for it... the GM only had him 30 feet up, so my Mesmerist then hit it with a Stare and Overwhelming Grief (it fails), while my Huge Medium batted it in the air, using his 15 foot height and 15 foot reach to attack it while it is unable to move. Meanwhile, the Giant breaks free of his Hold and confusedly wastes its turn, and the elementals smack at each other in a never-ending Confusion-induced loop.
The dragon eats up 2 full attacks (failing its save to Grief on its turn) from the Medium and the others finish the Giant while the elementals beat each other to death. ENCOUNTER END
Today I Learned...
Medium:
-I really underestimated the damage of the Bear-tranced Medium. The modifiers are nothing special, but those increasing damage dice...
-While I don't know how many other spirits will have natural attacks, I can say the Medium might be one of the best recipients of those kinds of builds due to the size increases of Bear. That may or may not scare some people...
-Not much else, I built my Medium to be a big dumb fighter and he served his purpose really well.
Mesmerist:
-Mesmerist with stacked Spell Focus can be really tough for appropriate CR enemies to deal with. Dragons have nice Will saves, but that -2 from Stare against a DC 23 spell is paaaainful for it, only succeeding on a 15+.
-Speaking of Painful, Painful Stare is completely inconsequential. I didn't build my Mesmerist to take advantage of it itself, but I don't think 2d6+3 damage added to a mediocre attack roll and mediocre damage would have been better than using a spell really ever...
-The GM was really surprised to learn a Bold Stare option could let it affect immune creatures 50% of the time. I think it was due to low rolls (and me really building for Enchantment DC), but he feels the Stare and class as a whole is really powerful and might need to be toned back.
