This was one of my first thoughts regarding the spell Blood Salvation:
While under the effect of this spell, you're immune to any damaging area spells you cast. You can dismiss this spell as an immediate action when you are caught within the area of someone else's damaging area spell; if you do, you're immune to that particular casting of that spell as well. If you have the blood casting class feature, you can cast this spell as a swift action instead of a standard action while you're in a bloodrage.
Sure would be cool if the Bloodrager could safely cast Detonate (i.e., not take damage!) with this spell active.
What do you think?

This combo isn't actually that great. Here's why.
You get to cast a damaging spell and it can deal up to 10d8. But in order for this combination to work, you need to first cast Blood Salvation followed by Detonate. That's two 3rd level spells.
A bloodrager doesn't even get two 3rd level spell per day until level 15. And now you're going to spend both of them to do this trick once?
Instead you could have just taken fireball. And not worried about taking damage because you don't cast it on yourself.
Oh, and your save DC will probably suck either way so the enemy will take half damage. The bloodrager is much better at just self buffing with their spells then they are using them offensively. Alternatively, things that don't have a save DC such as enervation are still nice to use.
But as far as does this work? Yes, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't.

I didn't ask whether it was a GOOD idea... I just thought it would be cool.
True, couldn't be done until 15th, like you said. However, Blood Salvation does last a number of rounds equal to your level. Useful when you're in a pitched battle and isolated from comrades.| Claxon |

Still not so much. The bloodrager just doesn't have enough spells to really be casting damaging spells, or at least not very many.
Sire you can always buy wands or other magic items to increase your spellcasting potential, but damage spells are usually a pretty weak way to make use of spell slots.
I don't know that I can even call this spell particularly useful.
Maybe it's neat. But mechanically it doesn't work very well. If they lowered the spell level by 1 I might consider taking it.
