Salt and Pepa's here, and we're in effect
Want you to push it, babe
Coolin' by day then at night working up a sweat
C'mon girls, let's go show the guys that we know
How to become number one in a hot party show

Hmm, not really my type of music...but trying to figure out why they were using that type of stuff in the video. It looks like they are making some sort of point with having only the "PURE" racial types, as per their song...
Which would go with the entire Black supremacy thing that's been going on for several decades.
The song itself...does it sound racist...yes...it does actually. However...without the imagery to go along with it, I don't think anyone would take it seriously as a racist type song.
Then again...what type of racism is it talking about...is it literal...or symbolic of something else.
Who knows...the lyrics were much more nasty than what I listen to. As I'm not really into that type of music, the above is my closest guess of the connection of the song and music...which could be completely off.
The irony here, is I don't think anyone would blink an eyelash at this song (as there have been other songs MUCH stronger on the point than this one) in regards to these without the imagery of the video...which is what most are talking about instead of the actual refrain of the song.

Nicki Minaj Video Director Admits Using Nazi-Inspired Imagery
Which is a pretty blah article title, but 's got some great lines such as,
"I didn't come up with the concept, but I'm very sorry and take full responsibility if it has offended anyone. I'd never condone Nazism in my art."
Well, if Hollaback! can make racist anti-street harassment videos, I don't see why Nicki can't appropriate New Order's fascist schtick. I forgive you, Nicki.

This has quickly become my favorite song/video of all time. Posted it twice to Facebook in 24 hours and will be looking for the cd as soon as I get a fat Xmas-time overtime check. I'm not sure if my favorite part is her sexy pout in the nail parlor or the reaction shots of the ladies at the hairdresser's.

It's a smasher. I liked that bit too :)
Per the Nicki video, I didn't actually mind the music itself, though as Sissyl said, the lyrics are a bit er..., reading as they do like some sort of x-rated [insert qualification you take around the age of 16] English assignment.
"Pay attention, class! Now I want all you thick b**ches and bishops to write me 300 words on the subject, 'I never f***ed Nicki because...'"

She does spit some pretty simple rhymes...just like that Lil Wayne goofball. Rhyming 'only' with 'only' and 'f&%*ed up' with 'f&+&ed up' is both clever and thought-provoking...sigh. The imagery is the only thing she got...'imagery' being her using the only thing she knows how to use, the pout and the killer body.

Attempts to redress the blatant gender imbalance of objectification in this thread
I think, from now on, it can be assumed that any link in this thread is not going to be SFW.

Yeah...Lil Wayne uses the only thing he can also...his tatted-up abs and that ridiculous grill. He knows hes not known for his intellect.
Both are reaching for low hanging fruit. Easy rhymes, sexy (or shocking) images, contagious beats (based on something familiar from the recent past). Its what pop music does...a person has to dig deeper to find something worth listening to. Most of the top10 of anything is like Nickelback, or Poison, or the Monkees, popmuzik has a time and place, it's just too easy to make.
Part of my rant is based on my jealousy, they both have money stacked to the roof. I wish I had half dat cash!

Looking through t3h Int4rw3bz, I found more stylish, classy examples of miss Minaj's work: Va va voom (which has a few utterly incomprehensible outfits), Pound the Alarm... She truly has an impressive... body of work.
It's obviously going well for her, and that's something to respect, I guess. Is it wrong of me to say she seems like a nice girl under all that makeup and all these poses and lyrics?

Don't go dissing the Monkees - they had Carole King as one of their songwriters!

I like the psychedelic gangsta sex Barbie image she has; most things Minaj related get a juicy big PiPu thumbs-up from me, although I prefer the last couple to the sort of mainstream-y dance stuff she's done (like Va Va Voom or Starships, etc). The videos are normally mental, which is v. good.
Do I spend a lot of time listening to this stuff? Nope, but let's face it, NM is a lot more appealing to watch on screen than, say, Robert Fripp, though YMMV, of course.

or Poison,
You know, I never thought in a million years that I would ever link a Poison song, but it was big when I was in [insert year of schooling that you would be attending the year your testicles begin to drop and you occasionally wake up in puddles of effluvia (again, sorry for the rampant gender imbalance; ladies and others are invited to testify to their own physiological experiences)] and I did grow up in f%!#ing New Hampshire:

re: Poison. I still like the title track, "Look What the Cat Dragged In" ...I went to bed too late and got up too soon, poor heads still spinnin' from too much booze...
That's how I spent some of my late teens thru mid 20s.
"Let Me Go To the Show" is fun pop-rock with a cool guitar solo sound "You heard yr mother, turn that s+@& off!" lol.
And "Fallen Angel" by them too, tells a poignant story of youth gone wild...o wait thats Skid Row!
"Nothin But a Good Time" was fun too!
Just watched Va Va Voom...uh YES to the 'evil queen' black dress getup!

It may amuse some to learn that We're Not Gonna Take It has replaced Solidarity Forever as the song of choice for American picket lines and labor rallies, although at the last one I attended, I heard both.
