GM Star Replay

Silver Crusade

How many times can I use my GM star Replay on the same scenario? I know the limit one per character. But am I Limited to say only just the Three Chronicles. Even if I have 2-3 stars?

"Alternatively, campaign GMs who are recognized for
their efforts by receiving GM stars (see page 38), may
receive additional player or GM credit for a number of
non-Tier 1 scenarios or sanctioned modules per GM star
they have earned. For example, a three-star GM may
select any three scenarios or sanctioned modules that she
can then play or GM for credit one additional time each.
For each of these adventures, she can thus earn a total
of three Chronicle sheets
, rather than the two normally
allowed. When replaying a scenario with GM-star credit,
the GM completing the Chronicle sheet will annotate the
Notes section of the Chronicle sheet and add “GM Star
Replay Credit × Star” to annotate the use of star credit
replay. The GM Star Replay Credits are a once per star,
lifetime benefit."

Am I to take the Bold line literally or is it just an Example?

First, this is a rare instance of a question being asked in the Rules forum that should be in the PFS forum, rather than the other way around. So, flagged for it to move.

Second, it's literal. You can only receive three chronicle sheets from the same scenario, once as a player normally, once as a GM normally, and once as either a player or GM with a star replay.

I'm not sure. It doesn't say they have to be different scenarios, though it does imply it somewhat. Honestly I doubt anyone would care enough to refuse you, and it's not game-breaking in any way.

The text says you can get 3 instead of 2. Not sure how that's not explicit.

And the boon you can get to recharge your GM stars also states that you can never use a star more than once on a single scenario.

Okay! Now I'm confused. I thought the stars provide exactly one replay each. A one-star GM gets to replay one scenario, one-time for one PC. Total.

Are you saying that I can use my single star to replay scenario X on PC A, then use the same star to replay scenario Y on PC B?

If you have the boon to recharge that star (Expanded Narrative), yes. Otherwise, no.

Remember that you can also have up to 5 stars, which allows re-play/re-GM up to 5 scenarios/modules for that third credit. Before the Expanded Narrative boon kicks in.

So, as an example:
Play 0-5 Mists of Mwangi for credit with PC X-1
GM 0-5 Mists of Mwangi for credit on PC X-2
Re-play 0-5 Mists of Mwangi for credit with PC X-3
You can no longer play or run 0-5 Mists of Mwangi for credit, other than table count toward GM stars, as the rules exist at this moment in time.

If you have 2+ GM Stars, you could then use that second GM Star to re-play or re-GM a different scenario for credit.

Ooh, so this changed from the season 5 guide, where you recharged your star replays every August?? I had not noticed before.

Very disappointed! If I had known this change was coming, I would NOT have blown my second star replay on Black Waters...

That never actually made it past the first draft of the season 5 guide, which was up for maybe a week. The official guide that came out at the start of season 5 removed the yearly recharge. Sounds like you never downloaded the update.

I download things at different times on different PCs. The date of the v5 file was 7-Aug, so yeah, I possibly never downloaded the updated version here at work.

Talk about subtle changes...

Should've kept the yearly recharge, imo.

I agree - the yearly recharge was WAY better a deal.

The replays do renew each year, with the "Extended Narrative" boon, available at conventions or through on-line play.

How many games do you want to replay for credit, anyways?

Well, I started playing in 2010. I was gone for several years but there are still modules that ive played that I have no memory of. It would be fun to replay them.

EDIT: As a note, I do gm, and am waiting on the reporting of my 10th game to be a one star GM.

There should be a note listing an exception for tier 1-2 scenarios/modules as they can be replayed.

I don't play online, so hopefully, our annual con will have the boon available.

As many as I need to - with limited tables on offer, sometimes all of the options are scenarios you've already played or GMd. And playing for no reward (but still risk) is almost as annoying as just going home.

I've been in this boat and given its all downside, I just choose to go home (or not turn up).

To me its MORE annoying.

In my local environment, having someone "not turn up" can prove fatal to having a game or not. I wish it weren't, but, in the local area, since my schedule went into working both Saturday and Sunday, so that going to a game on Sunday in the middle of my personal version of "night", became unfeasible. Due to another GM moving away, and no one doing a very good job publicizing the games scheduled (I used to try and sent out an email early in the week with the games I knew were scheduled for the next game day, but no one was telling me what was scheduled, so...), the game day, from what I hear, has gone inactive.

Now that my schedule has changed again, so that Saturday, at least, is a day off again, I am going to see if I can get some PFS going again. Unfortunately, in my previous experience, this is about the time of year when things slow down for RPGs, due to the college students studying for exams, followed by going home for the holidays, and many people leaving town for the holidays, and the visitors not knowing where to go to find PFS, if they are interested in leaving the casinos and shows...
