Classes for a Clockwork

Advice

Here's the setup: a Dragon Disciple is harassing a small town. He was hired to do this by two brothers in another city-state trying to set off an international conflict. To make sure the DD does his job, the brothers sent one of their minions to advise and spy on him.

The minion in question is an intelligent Clockwork Servant with 4-6 class levels. That much I've figured out. What I'm a bit stumped on is what those levels should be. I'm thinking either a spellcasting class or a skill class, possibly some kind of multiclass. What do you think? The resulting Servant should be able to hold his own against a Sorcerer 3/Antipaladin 2/DD 2. Any help would be appreciated.

Are they a spy or an enforcer? Would it be better for them to flee or fight?

Mostly a spy, although I'm hoping for it to be combat capable. It would most likely fight, because whatever class it may have, it still comes with 19 strength and fast healing.

I think an Investigator would be perfect for this.

6 levels of Slayer with talents being ranger combat style:twf and itwf and slowing strike would give you a full attack(w/ power attack and studied target) of +8/+8/+3/+3 with damage being Weapon Damage+10/6+2d6(SA), with a chance to slow on each sneak attack hit. Feats could be the 1: Nature Lore 2: Power Attack 3: Animal Ally(for flanking buddy for SA). This would make the fight very hard, reduce it by one level to give 1d6 less SA, 1 less bab, 1 less HD and one less attack.

I really like the investigator, but I have a hard time understanding how a construct could chug an extract.

Don't call them extracts. Call them drives or cogs or something. Like haste over clocks him, elemental ones make him hot or cold. Etc.

Alright then, going Empiricist Investigator focused on melee and spying. I'll stat it up tomorrow.
