My sons Cleric just hit level 4 and he needs to spend some gold. I am looking for tips on what he should spend about 7000 gold on. He is not focused on combat so we can put off purchasing a weapon for a bit. I imagine we will upgrade his BP and Shield to +1, but I'm not sure if we should put a magical affect on them as well.
What other items/tips should he pick up? He currently has his Wand of Cure Light Wounds.

While looking through the Ultimate Equipment book I happened upon the Phylactery of Positive Channeling which is right up my sons alley as he loves to channel energy. If I'm reading the text correctly he does 2d6 additional damage to undead, AND 2d6 additional healing to others (his party members). If this is the case we will upgrade his armor, buy a cloak of resistance +1, and then save up for this item.

You want simple, or complex?
Simple:
headband of wisdom +2
Ring of protection +1
Pearl of power 1
Complex:
Still the headband
Variety of scrolls, including silence, lesser restoration, delay poison, hide from undead, cure blindness, calm emotions, cure disease, remove curse, water walking, wind wall. Invis purge
2pp for a wand of endure elements
2pp for a wand of bless
4 flasks of holy water
Oil of magic weapon
Oil of align weapon
2 pp for a potion of fly or scroll of air walk
Potion of CLW (to be used ON you)
Potion of lesser restoration (three times faster)
Antitoxin
Antiplague
Healer's kit
But, if channeling would bring joy to your son, buy that first, and pick up the rest as you play. It's not a bad item, and we need to balance fun with optimization.

The list above has several good ideas. I'll try to add a few more suggestions.
If it is the channeling that he enjoys, compare getting a headband of alluring charisma against the wisdom item. It really depends on how much he uses the channel vs the spells.
Ring of protection +1 would help touch AC if he doesn't have one yet. The bad part is it doesn't stack with shield of faith if he uses that spell a lot.
Travellers any-tool from ultimate equipment is a fun and cheap item. It can form into any tool. Was a lot of fun the time I asked the GM if we could carry something out in a wheel barrow, and they said "Sure, if you happen to have one in your backpack." They laughed when they realized that I did.

A headband of Mental Prowess will give +2 to both CHA and Wis. One extra channel per day with 1 higher DC and +1 DC to Cleric spells.
I highly recommend a Darkwood Heavy Shield +1 because it lops a huge -2 from your ACP (Improving dex and str skills), which is a bargain at 1257gp. Even just a normal Darkwood Shield is 257gp.
Multiple wands of his favourite spells are always amazing.

Remember that the Headband of Inspired Wisdom and Phylactery of Positive Channeling use the same slot, so you need to pick one. If you go with the Phylactery, or get Wis and Cha on your headband, your spell DCs will suffer. For my cleric, I focused on spell DCs and got a Wis Headband, along with a buckler as my shield so I still have that hand open to hold a metamagic rod, and the other hand for somatic components.
If you want to focus on casting offensive spells, I recommend a Lesser Rod of Bouncing Spell. It's only 3000, and a great way to make sure spells like Murderous Command, Hold Person, or Blindness/Deafness go off.

Alright, there are a couple of items in Inner Sea Gods that could be of interest.
Glorious Flame Ring, 5,400.
Basically allows the character to use channeling to do fire damage. Need to be a worshipper of Sarenrae to get full effect.
Dawnflower Sash 2,500
Featherfall 1/day, CLW 1/day, Protection from Elements (fire)
Since the cleric likes channeling, you will really want to give the ring a look.

The channeling phylactery is pretty expensive, as are the multiple stat items, be sure and watch out for the gp limits for prestige on PFS purchases.
I know it sounds a bit forulaic, but the "Big 6" are the Big 6 for a reason. Since you discounted the weapon, I guess you can focus on just 5 of them, hahaha.

This is correct. My cleric/ranger uses this to counteract the drop in channel dice from the multiclass.
The only issue with the phylactery is that it takes up your headband slot, so you have to use ioun stones to increase your wisdom or charisma. Unfortunately, none of the ioun stones stack, and they only come in a +2 variety. (They are also more expensive than a headband.)
So you trade off an extra 2d6 of channeling for a max +2 to your wisdom and charisma. It's worked for my cleric because she's a buffing cleric only, but if you cast offensive spells, you'll want to keep your casting stats as a high as possible.

If he really enjoys channeling, you can look at the Malleable Holy Symbol and the Ring of Protected Life.
