Another question that is pretty simple.
If I have the boat and another character goes to a location that does damage to your boat, does the character not have any effects? Do boats need to be in places where boats are damaged to be damaged like the ship graveyard?

No, boats don't need to be in places where the damage is being dealt to be dealt damage. But I'm not sure exactly how you situation is occurring, since you seem to be implying the other character is moving on your turn, which while not impossible is rare.
To be clear, no one has the ship. If the ship is not anchored, then the person whose turn it is is commanding the ship, and everyone else at the same location at the person is on the ship. If you are not at the same location as the commander, you are not on the ship. When it becomes someone else's turn, that person is now commanding the ship and anyone at their location is on the ship.

Thanks for the clarification. Let me run an example to make sure I'm getting this.
As an example, let's say there are four locations for two players. One is the Ship Graveyard which does structure damage at the start of a players turn. I go to the graveyard and the other players at my location don't move with me since ships give free moves with the current player. The ship is not damaged, and I now have the ship with me? I do my turn and finish.
The next player is at a different location, the boat isn't damaged, and now has the boat now, right? She does her turn, and my example moves on.
Back to me, I now gain control of the boat? So the ship is damaged since I'm at that location and I now have the boat, right? And so on.

Correct. The ship is generally assumed to automatically be at the location of the person whose turn it currently is, even if by logic and natural order of things, it doesn't make sense.

Sounds correct yes. You avoided the damage on your first turn because you didn't start there. No damage is dealt on their turns because the location's power only applies to people at that location, which they aren't. Then on your next turn, you are starting your turn there so your ship is dealt damage.
And actually, if you ship was anchored at another location and you started your turn at the ship graveyard, the ship would still take damage. It doesn't matter where the ship is, things can still damage your ship, even if you aren't on it or commanding it.

I can't remember who on these forums I owe the credit to, but it's whoever pointed out that the player is the ship's commander, not pilot, and therefore that the pilot should be considered to be sailing the ship from location to location between turns ("Right, leave me here and go and get Valeros from Shark Island"), because that makes perfect sense to me
