How will you react to aggression? If a group from another settlement starts attacking merchants headed for your land, do you declare war on that settlement? Do you Feud the company and leave the settlement be? Where do you draw the line between banditry/tower liberations and outright acts of war?
And, a followup question, do you think this policy is likely to land you in a lot of wars? When do you decide to just leave the wasp be instead of swatting at him and pissing off the whole hive?
I asked way more than just one question. I cheated you. I cheated all of you, and you didn't even know.

KILL THEM ALL!!!!
Seriously though, these are good questions. I would just deal with the bandits, starting a feud if necessary. Some settlements won't be taking ownership of the behaviors of the companies/players within those settlements, so picking a fight with them would seem pretty useless to me- unless they are *really* becoming a KC about it :P

If a caravan / merchant destined for Aragon can not get to us, they should have hired more guards.
If they hired us to guard them, and the other group of bandits were able to defeat us. Congratulations, "You have what you Hold!"

Obviously, attacks on settlements are acts of war. Attacks on POIs have to be handled very delicately, but I would expect most of those earn a feud. It's "citizens abroad" that catches my fancy. What happens to the Aragonian merchants? If the Golgothan merchants that are on their way to Aragon get kill't by folk from the Iron Gauntlet, would you expect Golgotha to retaliate?

Aragon bound merchants...lulz.
I did laugh but I don't think it was in the way you intended...
Companies of primarily combat-trained characters who need gear replaced on a regular basis, with coin and trade goods to pay or barter with, and you don't think there will be merchants ready to meet their needs?

I don't think Aragon has an auction house, so it is more likely that the merchants will go to the nearest AH and expect customers from Aragon to come to them.

I'm sure they'll make great clients. I wouldn't recommend delivery service though.
