Paladin Immunity to Fear = Immune to Shaken?

The Paladin is one of those classes that makes you feel nearly invincible with all it's immunities and bonuses. As such, I do have a question regarding the Paladin's immunities.

The long and short of the scenario I have is that a creature successfully Demoralized my party, causing them to be Shaken (-2 to d20 rolls).

The Paladin in the group has Aura of Courage, granting him immunity to Fear effects and granting his allies a +4 bonus to saves vs Fear effects.

According to the conditions, Shaken is a less severe form of fear than Frightened or Panicked.

Does this mean that the Paladin is immune to the Shaken condition along with other Fear effects? Or is the Paladin only immune to Fear effects brought on by a magical cause, and since Demoralize is a natural act instead of magical, would the Paladin be Shaken?

This would cause some fairly funny RP issues where the Paladin is naturally Panicked and flees the scene instead of standing his ground like a good Paladin should :D

Aura of Courage (Su): At 3rd level, a paladin is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.

A paladin is immune to all forms of fear both magical and mundane and gives his nearby allies a save bonus against the same.

I read it as you do. The Paladin is immune to fear, and this includes spells with the "fear" descriptor, magical items that replicate these spells, or related effects, as well as the conditions listed under fear: "shaken", "frightened", and "panicked" (which makes the rest redundant).

Special note, the allies won't receive any benefit against demoralize, since they don't get a saving throw versus the Intimidate action.

there is no condition referred to as "fear" so the ability, in my opinion, would provide immunity to any ability that is fear based. such as spells, auras, intimidate, and possibly even immune to some story based fear, like haunted mansions for example.

Always wondered why intimidate is based on a weird DC. Building for intimidate can be useful, but requiring the GM to calculate what every creature's "demoralize DC" is can be annoying.

This is why I houserule that any bonuses to saves against fear also apply to a creature's Demoralize DC.
