Emerald Spire

Advice

I play PFS, and with the recent release of the chronicle sheets for the Emerald Spire, a group of us will be undertaking the famed dungeon. I will be using only this character for the whole dungeon, and was looking for ideas on a character that would be effective in this massive dungeon crawl. So far it looks like we have a skald, ranged slayer, and a warpriest. Any ideas to get the creative juices flowing would be great.

I would go with come kind of control-caster. Wizard/Sorc/Arcanist/Shaman/Witch/Druid take your pick.

Alternately, with the skald, pick something specializing in summons to have more creatures to get the buff. Summoner, Druid, Hunter.

Ive been tempted by both the summoner, and debuff witch. Haven't played much in the ways of casters in pathfinder yet

If you haven't played casters much, Witch is a good choice. The hexes make them unreliant on their spells to be effective in combat, so resource management and bookkeeping are less of a headache.

As for a summoner, be careful. It's really difficult to make an eidolon that does not outshine the entire party's melee abilities.

Is anyone in the group taking point on social skills? I'm playing Emerald Spire, and I can say that the town where it is set has... well, without spoilers,I can say that it has challenges that won't be solved by melee.

I hope you enjoy the Spire!

Hmm

Is it worth while to have a party face? I figured the spire to be mainly a dungeon crawl. Also, a summoner with a pet outshining the melee doesnt' sound terrible....what's their role as a caster, do you pretty much just end up buffing your eidelon?

Make sure whatever you play has darkvision permanently at lv 1.

Always thought it quite stupid for the mod to punish players for their race choice...

At least even third party stuff like rapan athuk has the decency to warn you to get a light source that keeps both hands free..which got me rolling up a half elf dark tapestry oracle with pierce the veil as first revelation...

Witches and shamans sound good as in massive dungeon crawls, as you don't know how many encounters you will do per day. Witches have better control spells though.

well i'm either going half orc, wayang, or orad depending on what i pick. So that aspect will be covered.

Look at their spell list. It's fairly clear what they are capable of. They have the best spell list in the game. If you make the eidolon large though, you'll struggle in a lot of areas with maneuverability.

My son created a wayang oracle and at 5th level, he can out-stealth any rogue due to racial abilities combined with a trait that makes it a class skill AND skill focus as a feat. Astronomical stealth ranks!
