So my dm is having a campaing of "If it's on the srd you can use it"
That means that all third party is allowed so long as it is on the website.
I'm looking to be a gnoll pack..... Yes....
But specifically, i need a dire hyena mount.
I thought i had read somewhere that you can essentially "reskin" something if it makes sense, a giant house cat being a big cat.... or a giant fish(Like that bible story) being a whale.
But i need the specific text and a link to it -.-'''''

Reskinning is one of those things that explicitly relies on GM approval, except for a few examples on the companions table like "Badger / use for Wolverines"
The closest you'll probably find is the discussion on re-skinning familiars (search "Approximating Familiars"): "With your Game Master's approval, however, it's easy to "re -skin" an existing familiar stat block to create the exact familiar you want."
If it helps, the Wolf is very similar to a hyena except a size larger. As a GM I would suggest it as a dire hyena re-skin to one of my players.

There is no RAW solution to get a dire hyena as a mount but here are some ideas that you can discuss with your GM.
1) Buy a dire hyena as a mount. The prize is up to the GM (should be ~300gp like a heavy combat horse because dire hyenas are common as mounts for gnolls) but with the 'Rich parents' trait you have 900gp available at 1rst level and that should be enough.
2) Take a class with an animal companion and use the 'wolf' animal companion stats for a hyena. Simply rename it. With the 7th level advancement it grows large and you can ride it.
3) Take the chevalier archtype 'Beast Rider'. At 4th level you can have very uncommon mounts like a snapping turtle (giant) or a tyrannosaurus. A dire hyena is not on the list but it should be ok with GM approval.
Additional mounts might be available with GM approval.
4) Play a summoner and design your eidolon like a hyena. At 8th level you can ride it.

If you are simply talking about purchasing/training a mount, the Dire Hyena is on the list of animals you can purchase (at GM discretion) on page 15 of the Animal Archive. But read the text! There are some pretty serious caveats.
Technically, it only applies to Familiars, but there is a one-page discussion on "Approximating Familiars" (aka re-skinning) on page 11 of the Animal Archive.
Don't know if any of this helps...

I just had a weird thought that probably doesn't help, but just in case it does...
If you have Share Spell, and if you can cast Enlarge Person from the class in which you get the Animal Companion, and if you have someone else cast Permanency, then you could get a permanently enlarged Hyena Animal Companion to use as a mount (large at 4th Level). Of course, its hideously expensive and someone could cast dispel magic, thus undoing you, but it's an idea. If your GM considers custom magic items to be RAW (even though it requires adjudication), then you could alternatively work out a permanent enlarge for the Animal Companion (see, e.g. Dire Collar).
Another crazy idea is to look at whether taking a hyena companion and the undersized mount feat would work for you. I'm going to guess no due to encumbrance, but maybe you could boost the hyena's encumbrance so it could carry you, either something that gives it ant haul, or boosts it strength?
Of course, you'd look something like a huge mexican bandito riding a tiny burro! Your character could wear a large brimmed hat, and wear crossed bandoleers. Be sure you're not playing with anyone who would be offended (and I apologize if I offended anyone with the stereotype)!

You can just have one as a trained pet. Wild Empathy is a straight-shot of skill checks and training is pretty simple. Have to FIND the critter, but that's secondary.
Only problem is your pet won't be magically bound to you in any particular fashion. You can fake the empathic link with the spell Telepathic Bond (it can be made permanent at large expense) but that's an after-market mod.
Awakening your pet is fairly easy, but then it won't be an animal companion and (writes a bunch of stuff, has to delete it)
An adventurer considering awakening his animal companion should keep in mind the awaken spell's potential drawbacks. Most pointedly, awakened animals can no longer serve as companions, and the character must follow the rules for Leadership if he wishes to take the animal as an official cohort.
Sadly, there is no explanation how that gels with the fact that there are no cohort rules for any awakened animals, or indeed having ANY cohort besides the short list of monster cohorts or "generic NPC." I mean, the way its written you could argue that you take on the awakened critter as a level 7 fighter who happens to have an extra 5 Hyaenadon Hit dice which don't get counted towards your cohort's level cap.
I mean, I can't find anything that covers it one way or another, I can't even find a rule that says what race a cohort has to be, it refers to the NPC rules which say "choose a race". You wanna be an Ogre? A Whale? Anything not on the Monstrous Cohorts short-list? Nothing says you can't!
Of course, nothing says you *can* either...
So then I checked the actual books, The Bestiary also says this:
You can use the monsters on the following table as guidelines when determining effective cohort levels for monsters not on this list.
Suggesting you can use other critters besides the ones listed. The SRD does not mention this, and it asks the GM to start making judgement calls on what's appropriate. Personally I'd call Hyaenadon a level 4 critter that you could stack levels on (I suggest ranger but barbarian or fighter are also appropriate). An intelligent, Spring-Attacking giant Hyena with a spellcasting druid or well-connected cavalier on his back is quite a terror.
