1. How does Detect Magic/Detect Evil relate to Damiel's ability to gain Arcane and Divine, when the encounters they create aren't part of a step?
2. Valeros encounters a monster during his Explore Step. Feiya casts a cloud spell and Damiel casts Strength. The Explore Step ends and Damiel loses Arcane/Divine. We eventually get to Valeros' End Your Turn Step*. Feiya attempts to recharge the cloud and Damiel casts Aid to help her. Now he has Arcane and Divine until the end of the step. He uses Divine to recharge Aid and Strength. Is this correct?
*: I'm going by the RotRL cards with FAQ updates. I'd forgotten that they recharged after resetting your hand, which is hard on Invincible Ezren.
We need a Cloud of Smoke spell so that Alahazra can cast it to recharge Invisibility.

We're currently waiting for a ruling on this issue (and more discussion here), but we're currently getting the impression that the intent is for Damiel to have access to the Arcane and Divine skills for the duration of the spell, at least when relating to that spell, as long as it doesn't have the Attack trait, no matter what that duration is. That way he does not banish the spells and he is able to try recharging them using his Craft skill.

"Yeah, that's basically it." from Mike seemed to express the intent well enough, considering the two preceding posts.
Again, if you want a hard, official ruling, we're waiting for it. Keep an eye out for an FAQ. Since they've addressed his alchemical item ability now, this issue should be resolved SOON!

I'm pretty sure Damiel is supposed to be allowed to recharge spells that aren't attack spells (even display ones, since a good number of non attack spells are display support cards).
Damiel is such a fun looking character, I cannot wait for the add on pack to get here.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. In our group of 6, I started out with Seltyiel and after our 3rd scenario in the base set adventure, I switched to Damiel. We just finished Adventure Deck 1 last night and I don't regret switching to him one bit. He is amazing.

I should have had Damiel also play an Attack cloud spell as well.
Maybe 'Damiel may play and recharge spells without the Attack trait as if he had Arcane and Divine equal to his Craft' has sufficiently simple wording. It doesn't allow for 'Bury/Discard instead of Banish'. 'Step of the turn' is problematic since the Explore Step contains many steps, including one for recharging, and cards can be played between steps.
I wonder if any non-Attack spell uses your Arcane/Divine die. A Divine 6 equivalent of Aid would be cool.
