Fighter / archer archetype disarm with bow

Rules Questions

hello!

my archer has just attained his first trick shot (at level 3). for better or worse he's taken "disarm".

i'm a bit confused as to what, if any, weapon bonus(es) for a bow are applicable to the disarm attempt.

i read in the faq about weapons finesse - it says there that weapon bonuses apply (at least for melee weapons.)

but it's not clear to me whether this is applicable to the special case of the fighter/archer and, if so, whether it includes masterwork or enchantment bonuses.

and help on this one would be appreciated!

cheers
tristen

The Archer archetype is a special case, since you can't normally do maneuvers with ranged weapons. You don't need Weapon Finesse or Agile Maneuvers for this. Dex is the stat you're using for the weapon, so that's what applies to the CMB roll.

You add any modifiers you would normally add to an attack roll. This means bab, dex, feats (like weapon focus and point-blank shot), class abilities ( like expert archer), masterwork/magical enhancement bonuses, etc. Basically, it should add up to whatever you normally roll for attacks, but with that built in -4 penalty.

Unless it is a trip weapon the enhancement bonus would not apply.

It says it uses the Fighter's CMB wich without a feat does not use Dex it is BAB+Str+size that is all for the base score. Since a bow is not a trip weapon things like weapon focus will not add.

No, every part of this post is incorrect.

Combat maneuvers are attacks. If you're performing them with a weapon, you gain any bonuses the weapon would normally grant to attack rolls. If you attack using dex instead of str with the weapon, you use dex for CMB instead of str. See the FAQ on Weapon Finesse for details.

And a blog a few months ago specifically said any melee weapon can be used to trip and gain the weapon's attack bonuses, the trip property just lets you drop it to avoid being tripped if you badly fail. And the OP wasn't even talking about tripping.

cool, thanks submit2me, i was hoping that were the case! for obvious reasons (mwahahahaaa!)

also: paraxis, streamofthesky is absolutely correct.

thank you all!
