It says to check to see if he comes into the game every time you encounter a card in Pinnacle Atoll. It's a "when you encounter" effect, and you're instructed to shuffle him in to the deck if he is summoned. What happens to the encounter? It hasn't been resolved yet. Does the card get shuffled with everything else and the encounter ends? Or do you keep that card out and resolve the encounter as normal?

I think you shuffle Hirgenzosk into the rest of the location, then continue with your encounter. Here is why:
When you explore, flip over the top card of your current location deck.
After you flip over the top card of the location deck, put it on top of the deck and read it.
That basically makes the card you are encountering a faceup card.
RULES: FACEUP CARDS
Sometimes a card is left faceup on the top of the location deck (for example, most barriers with the Task trait work this way). The card is still in the deck, but it can only be shuffled into the deck when the condition that caused it to be left faceup on the deck has been resolved.
So you can't shuffle the encountered card until you've resolved what made it faceup, which is encountering the card. So until you evade it or resolve the encounter, it stays faceup. So I'd shuffle Hirgenzosk into the rest of the location deck, then continue with the encounter as normal.
It is sort of like Birdcruncher Crown and Justice Ironbriar.

I don't think the card you are encountering is considered part of the location deck, although I don't have a line in the rulebook to point to. I think the intention is to shuffle the rest of the location deck. If that's the case, there's nothing that says the encounter ends; you still need to resolve the original encounter.

I think TanRu and I literally posted at the exact same time. If I refresh the page, it will switch which one of us is first. I know that has nothing to do with this thread, but I've never seen that before.
It also seems that the code for counting posts in a thread might count unique time stamps, since this thread is showing 1 post fewer than it should.
So much we are learning here today.
EDIT: Ah...no. TanRu and I have the same url for our posts, which is the thread name with post number at the end.
Where does this take you?

For me, five in a row where TanRu's post, then the sixth was mine.

That.
