Can someone please clarify exactly which spells fall under the elements descriptors

IE, does Earth include Acid? Does Water include Cold?

The reason I ask this is that it looks like if it is only the Earth descriptor that counts then there is no way you can prepare an extra Earth spell on the Wizard spell list from levels 1 through 9 as there are only 20 spells with the Earth descriptor from *all* classes. Air and Water are even worse.

Only Fire has a decent selection.

Am I missing something?

I always allow earth/acid and water/cold as well as air/elec to be mixed together for things like that and the wizard elemental schools. But RAW, I don't think it is technically allowed.


You can see what element it is in the spell entry. Fire Ball for example, looks like this:

Acid and earth are two seperat elements.
