Life Shaman

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So is a Life Shaman the second best healer you can play since it gets full spell progression and access to all spells on their list when preparing? Also one of the Life hexes, Deny Succor, can keep Cure Spells from healing an enemy and prevent spells or effects from removing conditions. This gives them the potential to shorten fights with Boss NPCs that have healing minions, or the ability to heal themselves. Life Link is a nice 5 point buffer to fellow party members hp totals and has a nice range at 100ft. Another bonus is, like the cleric, they gain access to Heal at 11th lvl.

Would Deny Succor stop regeneration? Fast Healing? If so, that is not a bad debuff. Especially since SR doesn't apply to Supernatural Abilities (Su).

The shaman version of Life Link as written is almost pointless. If it worked like the Life Oracle version, it would be much better.

I'm currently playing a Life Oracle, and I think it's a healing machine. It's gotta be the best or 2nd best healer in the game. I mean, I'm relatively new to PF (only been playing for about 5 years), but with the revelations and excellent mystery spells, I would think it's up there. The build I have isnt totally optimized, but i've been very happy with the results and ability to drop a big heal when needed.

Yes it's a good healer. That's the THE HEALER is an Oradin. It mixes paladin and oracle for good saves and swift self healing with lv2 paladin.

There are other threads about this. It's pretty clear to this writer that the Shaman version of life link was supposed to work exactly like the Life Oracle version. If one applies the poorly-worded 'new' interpretation to the Shaman's Lifelink the ability becomes so totally useless-awful that no one would ever choose it. That overly-literal interpretation is nearly as bad as that for Monkey Lunge: use up your Standard Action to increase your attack reach, leaving no Standard Action with which to actually attack ...

In any non-PFS environment nearly all GMs will cause the Shaman and Oracle versions of life link to work identically. That's obviously how it's supposed to work. In PFS play no one will choose the Life Shaman Life Link ability until there's a FAQ stating that 'Life Shaman Life Life Link works just like Oracle Life Link'.
