Greetings again Everyone,
Its likely that you know how crazy this month has been for us. When we were setting up this months subscription shipments we were confident that we would be able to have both the Skull & Shackles Base Set and Character Add-On Deck shipped out within our originally estimated fulfillment times. As you may have seen in our previous blog relating to the Character Class Decks the card game suffered a number of manufacturing issues that slowed down our originally planned release dates. While we pushed back to release dates on the Character Class Decks we still expected that we'd have the Skull & Shackles Character Add-On Deck ready for shipment without delaying this months subscriptions.
As the estimated fulfillment date drew closer we still had confidence that the Character Add-On Deck would be ready to fulfill subscribers orders, but, as of today the 22nd, its clear we misgauged our ability to do so.
At this time customer service is moving subscriber copies of the Character Add-On Deck and preexisting promotional cards to ship with September subscription shipments, ensuring Base Sets aren't delayed any further. We were able to ship out a fair number of them today, and expect to have any remaining orders containing the Base Set in the mail early next week. We've considered a few different options, and this is the best one available for ensuring you receive your products as soon as possible.
You have our apologies that we let this occur. We let our optimism cloud our judgement when we should have taken action on this sooner. Many of you have been excitedly waiting for your August items, and we should have them processed and shipped as soon as possible. We should be sending out an official email to everyone effected by this in the near future, so please keep an eye on your inbox.
Character Add-On Decks and promo cards should now be shipping in September shipment, and we'll make sure that everyone receives everything they should. At this time we don't want to cause any further disappointment or delays with your shipments. If you received a confirmation email for your subscription earlier this month stating that your shipment should leave our warehouse by the 22nd your S&S Base Set left the warehouse today. We should have the Character Add-On Deck shipping in September with the promo cards, and you will not be charged again for them.
If you feel that this could have been handled better we completely agree. This has been an ongoing learning experience for us as a collective team, and we hope to put the wisdom we've gained to use next time something like this pops up.

Now I understand that Paizo is pushing themselves to the limit to get product to their subscribers, but I've talked to two local stores, a gaming store and a comic store, and both have not been able to get S&S base sets from the distributors because the distributors don't have them in stock. After being at GenCon and hearing the subscriber woes and now Erik's post, I'm guessing that issues with the add-on deck is adding to the problems of getting stuff out to distributors.
How is this going to affect organized play if part of the base is possibly going to be delayed and the actual base set still isn't available?
I've already offered to my local store the use of my set, but was figuring originally that I'd offer if there was a lot of interest and more than one table.
So how is this going to affect things?

We can't set up events yet since the card game isn't one of the events allowed.
The store I'm working with hasn't heard anything yet but at least it's listed here. I may try to get some promotional material patched together to post at the store. But without the game being available yet, I'm not sure how we're supposed to get ready. I know it's just after GenCon but like you said, we have a week and a half to go. And I want to drum up interest.

Well this tells me not to expect the store to even have the Base Set this week. So it's just one thing after another. Oh well, I'll find a way to make things work for the Organized Play.

I plan on running "learn PACG events" instead using the stripped down RotRL demo deck to fill any time slots that would have had S&S play if stores are still interested. It will get people familiar with the game so we have to do less explaining when the OP actually starts at least.
As for season zero, I was planning on providing the base set for the games as we don't have a VC in our area. I don't see the S&S stuff making it here before the third, in particular the add on deck which I assume will be needed for 6 players and the character decks which aren't even slated to ship out until after OP launches... so not sure how long it will actually take to get OP going even if there are PDF's at the stores on the current expected start date.
Can we safely assume that if we want to do OP on 9/3 we will need to cancel our orders for character decks through Paizo and buy them from stores as authorizations for September don't even start until the 4th and might not arrive until the 26th, or is the street date for game stores also in danger of rolling past the new expected launch date as well?
Does Paizo have plans to ship out twice in September to subscribers?
I'm trying to figure out what the actual street date for Class Decks might be. I suspect we will have to delay the launch again. (And I *hope* that we will have Class Decks before retailers... but they'll only ship before Adventure Deck 2 if they're not in your sidecart!)
Question... What does... "but they'll only ship before Adventure Deck 2 if they're not in your side cart" mean? Mine are in my side cart, will they be moved to ship before or with AP 2? Or since they are in my side cart, they won't be shipped. That is if you have them available by then. Thanks for any info.
Anything in your side cart is something that will be added to a subscription shipment. So...
Class Decks in Sidecart
Once Paizo has them in stock, your class decks will ship with your next subscription shipment. If they are in stock by the time your September subscription ships, they will be in the same shipment. If they aren't in stock at the time your September subscription ships, then they will wait for your October subscription. If they are in stock 2 weeks before your September subscription ships, they will be held for 2 weeks to ship with your September subscription.
Class Decks to Ship Immediately (aka Not In Sidecart)
Once Paizo has them in stock, they will immediately ship them to you instead of waiting for your next subscription shipment. If they come in stock next week, they will be shipped next week. If they come in stock on September 15th, they will be shipped on September 15th (or around that time anyway).
You can move things from your sidecart to instead ship as soon as they are available and vice versa. So if you don't want to wait until your September subscription, change them to ship as soon as they are available. Or if you'd rather save on the cost of shipping, leaving them in your sidecart.
Ok... Thanks again for the info. Never had to deal with sidecars before.
