Hello,
A lot of Hexes for witch and Shaman don't list an action type. I have always assumed these activities require a standard action. Can somebody point me to the basic rule that confirms this? Thanks, much appreciated.
For example, I assume this requires a standard action to activate.
Battle Spirit (Su): A shaman surrounds herself with
the spirit of battle. Allies within 30 feet of the shaman
(including the shaman) receive a +1 morale bonus on attack
rolls and weapon damage rolls. At 8th level and 16th level,
these bonuses increase by 1. The shaman can use this ability
for a number of rounds per day equal to 3 + her Charisma
modifier. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.
Thanks all!

The description of the Hex witch class feature clearly states that all hexes (unless otherwise specified) are standard actions (that do not provoke attacks of opportunity):
"Unless otherwise noted, using a hex is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. The save to resist a hex is equal to 10 + 1/2 the witch's level + the witch's Intelligence modifier." (copied from APG, Witch class, from the PRD)

Hi,
technically i think "Battle Spirit" is not an Hex but a supernatural ability given by spirit. Nonetheless having (Su) descriptor it requires a standard action.
Supernatural Abilities (Su): Using a supernatural
ability is usually a standard action (unless defined
otherwise by the ability’s description). Its use cannot be
disrupted, does not require concentration, and does not
provoke attacks of opportunity.
Since it does not require concentration and the ability description says that rounds can be not consecutive, can I activate the aura (standard action) and then select in which round it has to be effective? Or do I have to spend a standard action each time I want to activate it?

That interpretation is so far outside the mainstream that this is the first time I've ever seen it.
The way I've always played it: once you spend the standard action to start the power, it keeps working (and using up rounds of duration) until you spend a free action to stop it. It could also be interpreted as only lasting one round each time you use it, so you have to do another standard action every round to restart it, but IMO that makes the powers that work that way far too weak.
