[ACG] Skald impressions

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I ran a fresh, level 1 Skald for a PFS session last night. It ended up being the most fun I've ever had at a PFS event. Even though half the table didn't want the Inspired Rage buff, I continuously felt I had options and I only had to roll to attack once in the entire session because we were able to bypass combat on a number of occasions.

I never had buy-in on the Bard before. I knew it was good, but I just wasn't interested. The Skald is an incredibly interesting flavor, though. On top of that, the rest of the players where pretty stoked when I handed out a hand-written condition card for the rage buff and told them how it worked.

Anyone else playing Skald or other ACG classes yet? If so, what has your experience been?

Haven't played yet, but check out Song of the Fallen. It makes multiple references to the previously dead ally being now alive for the duration of the song, so the obvious question is what happens when you do this and then the cleric slaps the guy with heal?

I had the same question so I hit FAQ on your post. @RG

I'm building a Tiefling Skald for a Way of the Wicked game, and it looks super interesting. I've wanted to play a kind of Battle Bard for awhile now, but Arcane Duelist has never really been what I was looking for.

Slap Bard together with Barbarian and now we're talking!

Liberty's Edge

Skald looks excellent, with my only complaint being the mechanically almost irrelevant lack of Perform (Wind Instruments) in their Versatile Performance list. Where's the love for the warhorn?

And that's just about the easiest fix ever for home games. On top of being (as mentioned) almost meaningless in any mechanical sense.

I hadn't even seen that omission, but that's pretty critical given that there's a warhorn archetype for Skald.

I have to admit....I am kinda meh on the Skald...it seems to me that would have worked better as a archetype...but I do not have a problem with the mechanics.

I am currently have a 2nd level Swashbuckler fighting with the Rondelero style ( the Taldane style with a falcata and buckler). While I don't become really good till 3rd level ( When I can take slashing Grace) I was pleasantry surprised to learn that I can still use all on my deeds I get at 1st level as none of them say they need to be done with a certain type of weapon.

I am running a Slayer in a Emerald Spire game. It's an awesome class, though playing a half-elf on level one of the dungeon made me kinda useless.

I still can't tell, but can Skalds use Masterpieces?

End of the second paragraph of Raging Song.

Loving the skald, by far it is my favorite class out of the ACG. The ability to share out rage powers is simply too good (consider enlarging the entire party with a single action?

Skald has recently been added to the SRD, for those who don't have the book yet.

Rock on.

Pageant of the Peacock Skald.

Dwarf is really thematic but dwarf bards suck, anything make the skald better for an dwarf? I've been reading things over and the penalty to cha hurts quite a bit.
