I'm thinking of making a Captain America type character and frankly the Shield Champion is currently kind of awful, but I see some fun options in warpriest.
So, what do I need to look for in a shield warpriest? Would light or heavy shield be better? The damage seems to be the same as warpriest. The light shield frees up a hand and is lighter, but the heavy shield can be two-handed and gives one more AC.
Also, what do you think the best domains are for a shield priest of irori? Strength seems good, but I was planning on going dwarf, so its greater blessing is kind of pointless, still the lesser blessing looks nice.
Edit:And what's up with no good aligned deities being associated with the Magic domain? Is Magic just supposed to be inherently evil?

I think some of the "magic is evil" idea is a holdover from 3.5's default pantheon, where you had Wee Jas, Boccob, and Vecna as granting the Magic domain. Of the three, one is pure dagnasty evil, one is LN but is also the god of death, and the third is neutral but also grants the Trickery domain. It does sound a little biased, doesn't it?
As for Shield Warpriests, you'll want Power Attack, natch, but also look at Saving Shield, Missile Shield, Ray Shield, and Pushing Assault. I like the Rune domain myself, but I'm in the minority there...
