Warpriest Unarmed Strike

Rules Questions

Just wanted to make sure Unarmed Strike does qualify as a Sacred Weapon. They don't have that same text as monks saying that unarmed strikes count as a manufactured weapons.

Which brings up the question of could a Sacred weapon be any natural attack, such as a claw, if you have weapon focus in it?

Relevant Bits:
If his deity’s favored weapon is unarmed strike, he can instead select Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat.

Weapons wielded by a warpriest are charged with the power of his faith. In addition to the favored weapon of his deity...

As long as unarmed strike is already your deity's favored weapon, you're fine. Otherwise you need to take Weapon Focus (Unarmed Strike)

Liberty's Edge

For warpriests of Irori, their fists are already their Sacred Weapon. I would imagine that any other warpriest could make it into one by taking Weapon Focus ion it, but they would also need the Improved Unarmed Strike feat to not provoke when using them.

Scarab Sages

Any weapon is a sacred weapon if you have focus in it. Unarmed Strike is a weapon, as is a natural weapon. There is nothing in the description of Sacred Weapon that limits it to manufactured weapons only.

I'm predicting a lot of warpriests going Irori, unless they are going for a crits build. There are a lot of advantages to having a sacred weapon that can't be disarmed and doesn't prevent you from having a free hand for casting spells and wearing a big ole shield. I'm considering grabbing tower shield feat for my dwarf... Or maybe not, since I can't bash with it.

I'm surprised sacred weapon damage doesn't consider weapon categories: light,one-hand,two-hand. The ability really seems to favor some unexpected weapons.

I wonder how effective you might be able to make a Warpriest using Shuriken, say a 2 level dip in Ninja for Flurry of Stars, TWF chain, Rapid Shot... that could add up to a LOT of shuriken, all now doing pretty decent dice damage. Though I suspect hitting may become an issue with 3/4 BAB and all the penalties from those extra attacks, might be worth stating out for fun though.

Weird things happen when you have a Warpriest of a Dragon god.

Apsu: Favored Weapon: Bite or Quarterstaff.

Dahak: Favored Weapon: Bite or Whip.

You want weird things, a warpriest of the green faith: Druidic weapons

Favored weapon whip actually sounds kind of crazy on its own.

Do any gods have shield bash as a favored weapon?

I don't think so. Gorum has a trait that makes shields better weapons, and the obedience for Arqueros is to hold a shield overhead for an hour, but I don't know of any that actually have a shield as the favored weapon.

That is from the Playtest, in the final version if your deity's favored weapon is Unarmed Strike you get Improved Unarmed Strike for free, you can then use Focus Weapon to select Unarmed Strike if you want, but you don't need to in order to use it as a Sacred Weapon.
