Just checking, has there been any recent updates in EE?

Map Updated with Riverbank leaving the Everbloom Alliance and correcting Arkhaven to Blackwatch.

(Wooooo first EE Update!)

Excellent Map Duffy.

Wondering if adding a marker for currently dead would be a good idea?

Goblin Squad Member

Might not be a bad idea, I'll try a few things and see what sticks.

Duffy,

The map needs to be updated. It shows Riverbank as "blue" when it should be "white" now, and Blackwood Glade (see "tragedy of" thread); may or may not have change hands and political affiliation.

If your feeling generous, how about adding a color (?black?)to the "abandoned" settlements?

Goblin Squad Member

The map has been updated for Riverbank and I've been holding off on updating Blackwoood until someone makes some sort of announcement about its current status.

The abandoned thing I kind of agree, I'll do a run through with the company search later.

Terra Firma forums are closed down again, no surprise.

The only settlements I know that are not active are Terra Firma, Hammerforge, New Daggermark, and Guardheim.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Blackwood Glade remains part of the Everbloom Alliance.

Terra Firma announced that they were leaving the game and giving up their village. They stated that they had sent an email to GW about it and that they were giving back the village to GW. Haven't heard anything more after that.

Six emails to Terra Firma leadership (in between down sessions of their website) about holding banners or running things but they give it up to GW "and this is how I find out - You tell me?!?"

(extra points for guessing the movie)

I'll update Terra Firma and other 'abandoned' settlements tonight. Thanks for the clarification on Blackwood.

Which is a sign there are issues with the west of the map.

Yes the EBA and Golgotha are recruiting heavily in the center and south but the north east are doing OK and those inactive settlements are close to Marchmont and a source of new members. There must be more to it.

It is it simply the case there is not enough interesting out that way in terms of terrain and other factors to sustain a high density of settlements ? Perhaps the ease of travel on the plains means less settlements are needed?

Or is it just a case that the western plains were less desirable and hence got more of the unviable land rush groups?

I find this curious.

Similar to how devs reply about perceived "dry spells" in loot drops, I think the attrition and no-show rate seems larger in the NW due to clustering. A handful of people or groups who "won" in the land rush decided to not play (for a variety of reasons). Despite this being just as bad as other game-killing behavior, it was never addressed by GW in a positive manner. Small groups of players devoted to the future of the area stuck with the leaders who did decide to show up and they are showing signs of growth (albeit, not as much as higher population areas).

A special thank-you shout out to AZ, who accepted the mantle in Talonguard, lest it be yet another overgrown foundation of a settlement.

The bigger question is, will GW release mechanics to help combat this player-created issue soon enough to?

I think the Southwest will be a bit more desirable once we get Fort Inevitable. That location played a part in why Sunholm chose to be sited where it is. We were thinking long term.

Southwest is a nice friendly place for new players. I like that people are able to come to Pathfinder University (RiverBank) and learn in relative safety.

Map Updated with inactive settlements indicated with a black core hex.

Good choice on color selection, but I think there are four more settlements that might be abandoned. see Aussiedwarf's map, especially with regards to amount of towers held.

Goblin Squad Member

I quickly glanced over the map and highlighted the ones that I knew had no folks playing at all. Dagedai for example hasn't taken any towers but I know they have had one or two people around at least, they are apparently waiting for the catastrophe or additional features before they start playing seriously. So while not 'active' they are not quite abandoned.

If people think I should expand to include some of the others I can, just want to make sure I don't mislabel 'quiet' as abandoned.

Goblin Squad Member

Agreed - Sunholm has had diplomatic contact from Dagedai. They aren't dead, but they are asleep.

Goblin Squad Member

Isn't High Road an inactive settlement?
