Elf Bane on Half Elf

Rules Questions

My party is about to run into a NPC who has a few +1 Elf Bane Arrows. My party has no pure-blood elf characters, but does have 2 half-elf ones. do the arrows work the same on them?

Silver Crusade

Yes, half-breeds are considered both races. It's the drawback that goes along with all the benefits they get.

Elf Blood: Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race.

So I'd say yes.

Excellent, it would be boring if it didn't work on them. Now I can kill them good, mwahahahaha.

Thanks

Sovereign Court

and half-elves are similarly immune to the ghoul's paralysis touch

Now if you really want him to die, give the bad guy human-bane arrows. The +2 doesn't stack but the 2d6 does...

Why stop with bane? Do what my GM did to my kick-arse archer and use an elf slaying arrow. Good times!

Grand Lodge

Both elf and human bane arrows work on them

As a side note, remember that you are the GM. So if a big encounter involves an NPC with a [not-in-party]bane [whackstick], there's no reason you can't change that to a [definitely-in-party]bane [whompingpole] or whatever.

Thanks, I would've changed it but first wanted to see if I needed too. What makes this real fun is the two half elfs are both clothies, so this should be fun, lol.

So, to both provide further evidence supporting the idea 'yes, elf bane would work' and to provide an interesting options the players should know about, I present to you: the Neither Elf Nor Human racial feat for half-elves.

This feat says that the half-elf taking does not count as human or elf for effects like bane or favored enemy anymore (which means that those without this feat normally count as both for such purposes).

Normally, this feat is far too situational to use (and it requires one...ok... feat and one....meh... feat to get)....but if you are throwing bane weapons left and right....well....
