Crossblooded sorcerers and the one less spell known per spell level

Rules Questions

OK the Drawback for Crossblooded sorcerer is one less spell known per spell level.

Is that minimum one spell per level you can cast or do you spend one level with 3 spell slots and only lower level spells to use in them?

Example my sorcerer has a 16cha, and gains 4th level. Does he gain 1 2nd level spell known or does he have no spells known and 4 open 2nd level slots?

No minimum. You're going to spend many levels with slots that you can only use to cast lower level spells (or metamagic enhanced spells).

Also, this should really be in the Rules forum, not the PFS forum.

Yep, you still gain spell slots to cast spells but you have no spells known of that level. So at level 4 you can cast three level two spells but you know none. You only know two first level spells plus your bloodline spell. If one of those spells was magic missile you could cast it using your first or second level spell slots. If you had the toppling spell metamagic feat you could cast toppling magic missile from your level 2 slots.

For Crossblooded you lose 1 max spell known. The human alternate favored class feature is great for picking those back up later, as you gain a spell known for a level below your highes level. At 4th level you will have a 2nd level slot but 0 known spells so what you can do is get a feat like Heighten Spell and cast a heightened burning hands (or something.)

One of each level you can cast, not one total.

The FCB does offset things a bit but having to wait yet another level before getting your next level of spells is a major cost which I have always though was a pretty terrible idea. It is rather sad that crossblooded ends up being better as a dip for admixture wizards than as an option for sorcerers.

My apologies, I just got back into gaming and don't know the process to well yet.

These are the Pathfinder Society specific sections of the boards for the organised play campaign. You will find the general pathfinder boards further up the page.

That's what I ment....a little tired atm so what I thought did not get communicated properly. :-) I've been toying with the idea of making an elemental sorcerer blaster but will need to get my admix wizard to 12th first. :-)
