Development of PACG in the future

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Hey folks,

1. RotR in Aug13 (Total of 11 Characters released)
2. SS in Aug14 (Total of 2x11 + 28 Characters released)
3. WotR in Feb15 (Total of 3x11 + 2x28 Characters released)
4. <Unnamed> in Aug15 (Total of 4x11 + 3x28 Characters released)

I read somewhere that there are around 130 characters in total in the
Pathfinder system available. Once these are released with the 4th Adventure Path, then probably PACG ends ???

Or what do you think ?

Lets speculate widely :)

I don't think so. I think they keep plugging away with new adventure paths. They are converting the RPG adventure paths to the card game. There are like a dozen already published RPG adventure path and Paizo releases to new RPG adventure paths every year.

There are 31 iconic characters in the RPG, they define an example of each class. But that has no limit in the of adventure paths. They are already repeating some characters from RotR in S&S. I am sure there will be a few repeats into WotR. But even after all 31 iconic characters have appeared that will keep making new adventure paths.

Each time a character repeats there will probably be something different about their skills and powers, and definitely their roles. That will keep them fresh.

Dark Archive

Yeah they repeat iconics in the APs for the RPG. Such as WotR was Seelah, Alain, Merisiel, and Seoni. Were as Skull and Shackles was Merisiel, Valeros, Alahazra, and Seltyiel. Lets us just say they reuse certain ones a lot. But it is due to who they think is the best iconics for each adventure path.

I think there was a thread where Vic said they had somewhere around the next 6 ap's planned after S&S, and with new RPG adventure paths being released at the same rate, I don't think there is anything that you could conclude as to be an end to the system... At least not definitively. I really hope it can go on perpetually as does Magic.

Vic said that here.

I am sure they will keep making this as long as people keep buying it. They will never catch up to the RPG adventure paths, so they will never run out of source material.

Unless they go insane and decide to do binge releases, a full AP every month for 6 months!!!! WHOOOOOO

- There is an unlimited number of characters available in Psthfinder

- We have 31 iconics, so if we get a class deck for all of them that would be 31x4 ... 124 unique named character released. sidenote : that would be a huge pile of 3379 cards total from only class decks
- Character can be remade in different releases. In this august we will already have 3 different versions of Valeros, Merisiel and Lem.
- nothing prevents Paizo from releasing even more classes in the future for the RPG

So characters definitely wont be a a barrier aainst unlimited PACG releases.

How up-to-date is that figure - it seems like there's a new iconic every week. Only last night we had the slayer (who will apparently be appearing in WotR)

It's already include the Advanced Class Guide iconics, even those which are not revealed yet. (as we already know how many new classes we get, and all class gets an iconic)

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

After a few adventure paths and a few hundred characters (or versions thereof) are released, I would think that there would be a vast library of powers and feats for each class to choose from. I could foresee an automated "character generator" that lets one select a race (determines the general parameters of the skill feat die, e.g. halflings cannot have > d8 Strength), the class (determines which powers feats available, and further determines skill die - e.g., Wizard requires at least d10 INT or d8 INT and Arcane +2).

Maybe it could operate similar to the "point-buy" system used to create d20 characters. Maybe choosing some powers precludes others (e.g., can't have more than two powers that modify the effect or play of a blessing card). I am sure they have these "rules" in place in-house, to one degree or another.

A generator like this would allow one to create characters for personal play, or for use with the class decks. Would be pretty awesome. I could finally get the male half-elf bard I want and name the character "Calthaer."
