Halfling, Rogue (Filcher) to Bellflower Tiller

Advice

Sovereign Court

I put my name forward to make characters using the worst archetypes and classes possible, see here for the list of candidates.

Here I shall record my thoughts for posterity. I have no doubt this thread is no more interesting than ant tracks in the dirt. I also know Phosphorus giggles and sniggers at our hapless attempts to survive this crazy idea.

I rolled the Halfling Rogue (Filcher) archetype to Bellflower Tiller.

I don't like playing halflings. I have never played a halfling. I'm still not sure what's wrong with the filcher archetype.

The Bellflower Tiller prestige class, that looks damn terrible. I'm going to waste 18 play slots on this?

Stay tuned for the stat-up of the character!

You don't like Halflings? How can you call yourself a kiwi Glen?

It's okay, I must admit I'm the same when it comes to halfings, and as for your filcher I hope you stick with the theme and try to steal things left and right.

I'll also enjoy the moment you get fireballed, and when someone says "Oh but the Rogue takes 0 because he passed his reflex save" and people will wonder why you're still upset.

1. It is a rogue.

2. It is a rogue.
3. See number one.
4. It sounds hilarious, you filcher!
5. You give up evasion & uncanny dodge, two of the best rogue features.
6. Don't forget that part of the challenge is to make use of the theme of the archetype in play...

Besides it doesn't really need to be that bad... The Bellflower Tiller makes up for it.

PS Small races are great! We need more halflings at Auckland PFS. My halfling is lonely...

PPS Giggle, snigger

PPPS If you want to feel better look at how bad a True Primitive Barbarian Gnome is...

I look forward to killing, er, meeting him!

He's got to be some use in combat at level 1, so Weapon Finesse instead of Skill Focus (Sleight of Hand). He's not really a filcher until 4th level anyway

Bellflower Tiller pre-requisites:
Alignment: Chaotic good
Feats: Any two teamwork feats
Skills: Disguise 5 ranks, Knowledge (local) 3 ranks, Stealth 5 ranks, Survival 5 ranks
Special: Sneak attack +2d6

Teamwork feats are so bloody useless I can't believe that one person would willingly take them, let alone two people in a team. Sweet Desna, I have to waste my pitiful number of feat slots on useless teamwork feats!

Are you sure you can't hold out until Level 2 and pick it up as a Rogue Talent? (Finesse Rogue)

The best way to manage your small number of feats is to leverage as many of them into Rogue Talents as possible.

EDIT: Or you can always cheat and use Weapon Finesse the feat at 1st level, and then use your rebuild to replace it with something else before you play your first game at level 2, thus taking Finesse Rogue.

For a rogue the teamwork feat "Outflank" might not be too bad - you just need to pair up with someone and convince them to take it too...

Actually, there are some that are quite useful, such as Outflank, Precise Strike, and Escape Route. My Inquisitor has used these to save his life in PFS before [the latter more than the formers in the dept. of life-saving]. Of course, they suck if you aren't playing with the same people each time and/or aren't an Inquisitor/Cavalier/Etc.

Sovereign Court

@pH Yes, that is my evil plan

@Derwalt, @EvilPaladin I shall note these suggestions, thanks. But as you say, the feats are no use unless someone has them as well!

Sovereign Court

Rorimac Tosscobble made his debut in Slave Ships of Absalom.

Scenario spoiler:
He scored the first kill of the scenario (flanking another unhurt rogue).

He utterly failed to kill anything else in the scenario (bad dice rolls mostly) but provided distractions in two combats i.e. he was attacked rather than someone else in the party.

He did very well in Sleight of Hand checks to score the Budding Friendship boon for the party.

I enjoyed playing this character in spite of myself. I still don't like the upcoming feat tax for his prestige class, but I think I like playing Rorimac Tosscobble.
