Arcane Blast in melee combat for Attack of Opportunity

Rules Questions

My gm just told me that Arcane Blast does not have a Attack of Opportunity as it an supernatural but then say it does as it using an ranged touch attack.

He is right here or can Arcane Blast be used safely in melee combat?

If it's a ranged attack (touch or otherwise), then it would provoke an AoO in melee.

While the supernatural power IS safe from AOO's, the making the ranged attack is what will provoke.

Basically if you have to make a ranged attack roll for ANY reason, you provoke. Auto fire spells like magic missile are good if you cast defensively.

Your DM is right. Your Arcane Blast being (Su) doesn't provoke, but using a ranged (touch) attack in melee provokes.

Casting ranged touch spells in melee next to the bad guy with combat reflexes is not good for your health.

Not only that, but for spells like scorching ray (or any other multiple target ranged touch attack ability), it provokes once for each ray, not just once for the spell.
