So I've recently bought the Kobold Press set of PDF's from over at Bundle of Holding, and thought I'd give the new feats a read. Subsequently, I found this little gem.
"Somatic Weapon
You can satisfy a somatic component using a chosen weapon.
Prerequisite: Weapon Focus, 1 rank in Spellcraft
Benefit: Choose a weapon for which you have taken
Weapon Focus. When casting a spell with a somatic
component, you can satisfy the component as if the hand
holding it were free. You cannot use this feat while grappled
unless the weapon you are holding is light.
Note: Spellcasting this way does not prevent attacks of
opportunity triggered by spellcasting" - Pg 33 Complete Advanced Feats
Now, assuming a GM was to allow this feat as valid in their game (Ours allows all Kobald Press books), would it allow dual wielding and spell combat to be used together?
Mechanically, Spell combat states:
"At 1st level, a magus learns to cast spells and wield his weapons at the same time. This functions much like two-weapon fighting, but the off-hand weapon is a spell that is being cast. To use this ability, the magus must have one hand free (even if the spell being cast does not have somatic components), while wielding a light or one-handed melee weapon in the other hand."
So It seems like a trapped feat for the Magus, who could truly benefit from it(and only suspectly useful for other casters).
However, the section that is confusing me is the line "you can satisfy the component as if the hand holding it were free". Does this mean that your hand is counted as free for the purpose of spell combat, or just for casting spells.
Thank you for your input.

Well... as a quick thought you could take 2 levels of Alchemist and get the vestigial arm discovery, this would give you 3 arms capable of combat.
Or you could get 1 level of Summoner, take the Synthesist archetype, completely ignore your "Physical" attributes at character creation and pump all your points into your "Mental" attributes. (Assuming your GM allows this archetype). Granted this comes with several downsides, like your eidolon's max hp being low with only 1 level in, and the 1 minute ritual on waking (if your GM likes "surprising" your party with midnight panty raids by goblins riding dragons)

There was a recent thread rehashing most of this.
Any chance you can provide a link to this, I'd like to have a read
The inability of the magus to use twf feats is not because of the free hand thing (though that contributes) spell combat explicitly says it is as if using twf
Given this situation, two of your hands are taken up for two weapon fighting, what if you had 4, 6, 8, 10, or more arms and multiweapon fighting (E.G. synthesist summoner with an Eidolon with the Limbs (Arms) evolution 2 or more times). When used in concerto with Spell Combat would you get all your attacks from your modified multi-weapon BAB?
