Fairly straightforward question, can someone join a PFS game that's in session or is it once the game starts no one can join in. Of course this is within reason, coming in around maybe a quarter into the game not at the end.

This is really a PFS question not a game rules question. I flagged to get it moved to that area so you can get a better answer.

^ I did the same.

But to answer your question, it will vary by situation, GM, and table.

I've had players jump in 1/3 or 2/3 into a module during a Convention.

For scenarios, if someone's 15 minutes late, I'm generally lenient. A head's up helps.

If someone's 30 minutes late, probably not. Later than that, definitely not.

It's disruptive, and disrespectful. There will always be another game. You can show up on time for that.

Alright sorry about the misplaced question thanks for the flagging and thank you for the answers

If I know you are coming late, and I can email you the briefing, so you can read it on your way into game, I am more likely to be lenient. If I have to stop and replay a half hour of role play to bring you up to speed... It is probably not happening.

If your my DM kudos to finding this and thank you for it as well. As for the late its not me its my friend cause he has work, hes guessing hell be there 6 30 at the latest assuming he cant get off early. any info you would like to pass on I can easily forward to him

Nobody said that. They're just talking about people showing up so late that the session has already started.

Whew! Good thing. Thought I was dreaming there for a moment.

Unless you are in Sacramento, CA, I am not your GM. :)

(PS: some people get cranky about the whole GM/DM thing. Not that I care, but DM is apparently trademarked by D&D, and they don't like other people to use it. So for pathfinder (and most other games), we are all GMs. )

haha im in santa clarita, CA. I'l just talk to my GM face to face later today. and thanks for the tip (though why the hell you can trademark 2 letters next to each other is beyond but then again we do live in the US XD )

Well, technically I think the trademarked Dungeon Master, rather than the two letters, but yeah. Just a heads up.

If you are ever up in sac, look us up, we are all nice people up here :)

We've generally gone by the same rule as for XP - if they could still complete three encounters, it's "okay". Not optimal by any means.

I did once start someone five hours into the scenario, because they'd only just completed the first encounter... He was showing up (on time) for the *next* session. He still got a full four hours of game in... It also was very reasonable for someone to show up late in that scenario.

If you call Game Kastle at (408) 727-2452, to get a message to Geoff, John or Wendy-Ann, I am sure they will be as helpful as possible. I won't be there tonight, or I would do the message for you.

You can also get a message to Geoff from Warhorn. Either way, as FLite said, advanced warning of lateness is a good thing.

Sorry. Misread. Thought you posted Santa Clara. >.<

It's the smaller of the two Santa Claras.

We have too many Santas in California. And not enough snow.

There're a bunch of people on the streets of LA who will sell you snow.
