Play test warpriest ACG - question

I am sure I am missing something and it's probably obvious,....

After the unfortunate demise of the cleric, I decided to have a crack at a warpriest, who is 8th level using good and protection blessings.

Ok, the question

Does sacred weapon and blessing stack.

Let me elaborate...combat starts and for the first time I get the initiative, so decide to hit things (ok it was 1 am and I was starting to get tired.....)

I fired up holy strike and then since at 8th level can imbue his with sacred weapon (war hammer ) with let's say cold which gives 1d6 cold damage

So following that adding cold reduces the enchantment by this makes it +1 right?

So holy does 1d6 extra damage, and so does cold... So does one take over the other? Or do they both apply?

Because the way I read it that sacred weapon and blessings are different...happy to be proven wrong, just want to make sure I understand it before the DM goes no $&@&& way.

Seems a bit high if it's 1d8+1d6 holy + 1d6 cold


Yes it stacks. No 1d8+1d6+1d6 isn't really that high, especially for an 8th level character.

With Sacred Weapon you can give a weapon +1 Frost or increase the existing enhancement by 1 and give it Frost.

Yes you can then add holy strike with the Good Minor Blessing for another 1d6 extra damage.

Yes they both apply.

1d8+1d6+1d6 is effectively 11 damage on average. Nothing really to write home about at 8th level. That is roughly a 10th of a CR8 creatures health.

Keep in mind that at that level, other Martials are doing about 40ish damage a round.

Have fun. Remember Divine Favor is a staple spell for Warpriests. It's quite awesome in combo with Fate's Favored trait.

In fairness, that's 11 damage from the weapon alone. He might easily have another +18 or so from wielding it two-handed (or +12 or so even wielding it one handed), and two attacks, for 46 to 58 damage or so.

Still not unreasonable damage, I'm just being a bit pedantic.

Warpriest reminders.

Always take Fate's Favored!
Always!

Always prepare Divine Favor at least 3 times or have 2 pearl of power 1st level to be able to cast Divine Favor 3 times.

Always take the War Blessing (if you can) Why? It's like a mini Blessings of Fervor, speed increase, Dodge Bonus, Morale Bonus to Attack, Luck! bonus to Saves, crap, stack Resistance with your Blessing of War, for a +3 to all your saves, no cloak of resistance required.

Once you're high enough Level, Always prepare Divine Power!

Keep Charisma high, the more blessings of Fervor you have, the less equipment you have to buy to boost your stats.

Save 16k, and prep Bull's Strength with all your second level spells.

Have a plan for your swift actions:

Mine?
Surprise Round: Standard Action, Blessings of War, Swift Action Divine Favor
Round 1: Swift Action: Bull's Strength, Charge using the speed bonus to close the distance.
Round 2: Free Action change your Blessing of War bonus depending on the foe (Caster, go save, heavy hitter, go AC, High AC, go Attack bonus, Swift Action Sacred Weapon, Full Attack!
Round 3: ????
Round 4: Profit!


I like using Vicious weapons with the warpriest. Allows for spontaneous healing to be put to good use.
