Castle Caldwell and Beyond (B9), Pathfinder Basic Box style – gauging interest

Recruitment

First off,

Hello!

And this is not a recruitment thread (although it may turn into one)

Let me tell you a couple of boring things

I have enjoyed the Pathfinder Beginner Box immensely, and have run the adventure many times. I’ve also always delighted in the simplicity, and flexibility, of the Module “Castle Caldwell and Beyond (B9).”

And, I am trying to learn how to use Ditzie (the website that allows you to have player accessible maps for online games).

I am struggling to learn how to use Ditzie

Now here is why I’m bothering you with this message

I’d like to see what kind of interest there would be in a "Castle Caldwell and Beyond" PbP game using the Basic Box rules of Pathfinder, and incorporate a learning experience for me as I experiment with Ditzie maps

The posting requirements will be minimal (less than one post per day) and I am hoping to find interested players who are experienced with Pathfinder, have a basic understanding of the differences between the normal Pathfinder rules and the Basic Box rules, and who would be patient and helpful with my efforts to learn how to use Ditzie (it would help me if there were players willing to do this who knew how Ditzie works and could be my guides!)

If I can find four to six of the right minded players I will launch this kind of game

What do you think?

Cool idea, and best of luck. I'd be interested in playing, but to be honest, I know nothing of the Basic Box, so it seems I'm not what you're looking for.

But do you know Ditzie? I need that more than the other. Thanks for showing interest, either way.

no one then? Alright

I've used it once, and can get by, but I'm no expert. :)

thanks, looks like it is a non issue anyway

I'm just going to bump this up because I want to encourage people who wish to run OSR rules games or Pathfinder Basic. Hopefully, some more people will give this a look.

I won't be participating because I don't like PbP gaming but I know there have to be some people who are comfortable with PbP AND interested in playing a more "rules light" game.

Kudos to you, Terquem; keep the rules-light gaming flame alive!

Thanks, I'll try

and look for me to try to throw Next up later this summer (with a brand new Palace of the Vampire Queen game using the Next basic rules, as I have run that adventure in every edition of the rules since the first white books)

I am new to Pathfinder and I have the beginner box it's just around here I don't really have anyone to play with. I would be willing to play this and it seems like it would be around my speed and skill level. Would I also have to have access with Ditzie?

you do not need access to Ditzie. I have an account there and I am trying to figure out how to upload a map and "pogs" what they call tokens) but to be honest I'm not getting it and I am spending too much time being frustrated by my failures and not enough time updating my games here

I just recalled that I was in a PbP game here on this board where the DM used Ditzie as his mapping program. The DM's screen name is Cyrus 9553 and it's possible that he might be able to offer some assistance if you contacted him.

Thanks

I use Ditzie as my primary mapping tool for a number of games and would be more than happy to help you learn the ropes.

I also run an ongoing (over a year now) Beginner Box game with my buddies at work and I love the simplicity of them. I'd be interested in trying my hand at an old school module using PFBB rules on PbP.

Shoot me a PM and we can discuss both at greater length.

Thanks PFBB GM, I'll keep you in mind as I try to figure this mapping issue out, though it looks as though there is not enough interest in this game, specifically, I will continue to look into Ditzie as a mapping tool for my other games

Veteran 3.0/3.5/PF player here, started tabletop gaming in AD&D 2e in about '92. I own the beginner box, but have only played through it once. (and that was rushed toward the end... It was Xmas eve, and I talked some family members into trying a roleplaying experience, but it started getting too late and I wanted the party to encounter Black Fang).
I know nothing about Ditzie.
I would be happy to create a BBox character for this game. I'll look through the players guide when I get home to see what kind of options there are/aren't available, and I will post a character soon.

I made this avatar and statted him up so that I could make quick adjustments and hopefully jump into a recruitment with minimal time invested. I might just change his stats to a more simplified state for this Play-by-post BBox game.

Hello Greyface. Thanks for stopping buy, but I sort of abandoned this idea as there was a lack of interest.

Instead I am trying a Beginning Box version of a homebrew (high comedy) Goblin adventure. If you are interested in that sort of thing, check out the recruitment for "Say Your Right Words"

I'd be up for the fun. I started playing D&D back in '77 with the Blue Box basic set, and I have run my kids through the Pathfinder Basic just recently and really enjoyed it. I know nothing about Ditzie but will check it out.

Hello Phrip, thanks for stopping by.

I just want to say again that after there was a lack of interest in this recruitment, at first, I gave up the idea, and moved on to a slightly different Basic Box game format idea. If you want to play a slightly silly basic box game , check out the recruitment for
