Whirlwind Attack (Combat)
You can strike out at every foe within reach.
Prerequisites: Dex 13, Int 13, Combat Expertise, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, base attack bonus +4.
Benefit: When you use the full-attack action, you can give up your regular attacks and instead make one melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against each opponent within reach. You must make a separate attack roll against each opponent.
When you use the Whirlwind Attack feat, you also forfeit any bonus or extra attacks granted by other feats, spells, or abilities.
Question: Can you use a reach weapon and non-reach weapon together (alternating between as desired) to attack everyone adjacent and within reach, or are you restricted to using only a single weapon? It is my understanding you can alternate weapons normally for iterative attacks, which may or not apply in this case. Please provide links to applicable rules in your response.

That's a pretty good question. My gut reaction would be to say that no, it has to be made with a single weapon. However, nothing in the description of the feat says it has to be. So feasibly if you had say, a longspear and armor spikes so that you threaten all of those squares, I can't find a RAW reason you couldn't do this. I'd be interested to see a real answer myself.

What you do here is get yourself a whip and the whip master feat... and then extend its reach to 25' (through yet more feats - it is doable). Then you can hit everyone within 25' with the whip. BUT the better option MIGHT be to do the same with Great Cleave instead of Whirlwind attack. Depending on the HD. Ps. A whip in the correct hands can be a real crowd killer.
ps. ONE MELEE ATTACK. You pretty much answered your own question. You are using ONE WEAPON to attack. Whip is good for this (since it can reach 5' to full reach (with feats, like I said, you can get to 25')).

one melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against each opponent within reach.
PrinceRaven nailed it there. It is against each opponent within reach. Each gets an attack roll, and you could use a trip maneuver against some, and a normal attack against others and a sunder maneuver against still others.
You aren't two weapon fighting, so primary and off-hands don't come into play. I believe you can do both.
