My players are about to go into misgivings tomorrow night, and I just realized I don't know how to handle my summoner's eidolon in relation to the haunts. Do I treat it as its own character, and assign to it one of the haunt categories? Do I have it be affected by the haunt categories that are assigned to the summoner character? Do I not have it affected by haunts at all? Do I only have it affected by universal haunts?

GM's call here. It straddles a weird line, somewhere between "pet" and "intelligent creature," so I can see it both ways. I think most summoners don't give a deep backstory to their eidolon, so unless it really has a strong reason to be attached to one of the haunts, I don't think the ghosts would really try to go after it. If, for example, the eidolon has the Energy Attacks (fire) evolution, it would have a good case for the Burning Haunts.
Since the eidolon and the summoner share a piece of the same soul, there's a strong case to have the haunts tied to the summoner affect the eidolon as well. That's probably what I would do. Universal haunts would affect it as normal.
