Need help selecting a fourth party member

Advice

Ok so currently the party is a half-orc scarred witch doctor, a human ninja, and a human barbarian. I'm really interested in playing a support role as the fourth member. With a 20 point buy starting at level 1 and going to lets say level 8 what is the best thing I can build? All paizo books are allowed. Wordcasting is also allowed.

Grand Lodge

What races are allowed?

Summoning Wordcasting Oracle, for that sweet standard action summoning.

Can't go wrong with bard or evangelist cleric if you're looking for a support role. The ninja will thank you when their sneak attacks land more often, and more damage is always pleasing to a barbarian. Plus you get all those nifty spells, and (if a bard) you might be the only party member with a lot of knowledge skills depending on the ninja's focus. Get some decent Charisma and play the face.

Don't worry about becoming the healbot; you and the witch can share wand duty and leave the spells for more interesting tasks.

all but the monstrous and high rp ones.

Though the 'Jargonaut' by brewer might be fun to try out.

Grand Lodge

Scion of Humanity Aasimar Oracle with Racial Heritage(Half-Elf), Eldritch Heritage(Arcane), and utilize Paragon Surge.

Choose Lunar, or Nature Mystery, and spend the racial favored class bonus on the companion Revelation, for a above average support martial.

You can choose the Revelation to grant you the ability to use Charisma foe AC, and dump Dexterity.

You will be able to support, heal, and be the party face, with a very versatile spellcasting repertoire.

Silver Crusade

Your allies lack a divine caster. Your allies have lots of melee ability. An evangelist cleric would clearly be optimal. You will have the best buffs in the game, will be a Tier I full caster, and can easily be a melee beast.

Your battle tactics can range from 'I stay in the back to buff & heal', to 'I summon monsters to destroy the foe', all the way to 'I whack it with a big stick for huge damage'. Evangelist Clerics make terrific summoners: Augment Summons stacks with Inspire Courage.

Here's one Evangelist Cleric play style that is both fun and effective.

P.s. As you have likely figured out by now, Magda evangelizes being an Evangelist Reach Cleric.

I would recommend against following this advice. If you're even asking this question it's unlikely that the power levels at your table are terribly high, so your friends will start to hate you very quickly if you abuse Paragon Surge.

Bard or Cleric are both good recommendations. An archer bard might be nice for this group.

Already a half orc scarred witch doctor is being played. It doesn't get more optimal than that archetype.I say go nuts on the paragon surge oracle, but do it as a half elf. In everywhere but pathfinder society, half elves get the choice of either human or elven favored class bonuses. Elves have the same favored class bonus as aasimars. Your character will be less special snowflake and less munchkined out, but still quite powerful.

Second on the archer bard suggestion.

i played and would recommend half elf cleric of Desna with decent martial prowess then around 7 go into Holy Vindicator and get a phylactory of positive energy to add 2d6 to channels. go extra channel one at the same level as your first HV. at 1st HV you can channel a bonus into your shield equal to the number of die you channel and it lasts for 24 hours or until hit. Most of the time your AC will be so high only the boss or a lucky crit will hit you. that way your a very proficient healer both in and out of combat, you will be able to sit back and cast buffs or deal with debuffs on the paty, and you will be able to step up and hit something if all else fails, and later you will be almost impossible to hit through most encounters. it can also give the party a face depending on the ninja. and the only character for knowledge planes and religion.

Bard. No doubt about it. Go heavy on the knowledge and social skills.

Yeah I'm technically GMing this campaign with two new players and my roommate who is going to play his guy then control this support/healer who is really only going to be around to keep people from dying. So anything like paragon surge..well this character isnt trying to outshine anything. I might just go with a basic cleric of either sarenrae or desna. Evangelist is a good though due to the Inspire Courage.

Evangelist Cleric is a good choice.

Evangelist caster cleric. Im for the evangelist. Im against one holding a weapon and taking feats for one. If there is 2 melee types I dont recommend a 3rd. I would play it as a caster.

This is almost exactly what I was going to say.
