Actually, at 8th level that's +6/+1. But anyway, that means that you get an additional attack when you make a full-attack.

When you use the "attack" action (a type of standard action), you make one attack at +6.

When you use the "full-attack" action (a type of full-round action), you first make one attack at +6, and then you get to make a second attack at +1.

Yeah, I was going to comment as well that a 8th level ninja does not have +8 BAB as well.

The number after the / indicates the iterative attacks you have and the base attack bonus you use for that attack roll.

Remember that both attacks still add in all of your other modifiers too, str (or dex if you are using weapon finesse) weapon focus, enchantment bonuses, all of that stuff. So by level 8 a full attack from you could very well be at +13/+8. And if someone cast's haste on you that would be a +14/+14/+9; the modifiers make a huge difference.

MHart, if you wanted to see the specific rules covering your question, check out this link and this link.

Everything has been pretty well covered already, I just thought you might want to see where it is specifically addressed in the rules.

Thank you that really help alot
