Soulless PCs

Rules Questions

In an upcoming game, I want to GM a group of Evil PCs and one of them wants to have the soulless template. Is this allowed? And also, how do the ability modifiers to Charisma and Wisdom make sense?

Grand Lodge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That is a third party template.

Just have him play a Gnome.

The soulless template is third party? I did not know that. Alright, thanks.

As a GM, your allowed to say what is and isn't allowed. one of the nice things about being the GM. People don't usually add templates to their character though, they can be very imbalanced and many aren't meant for PC use and instead meant for a particular type of NPC. Soulless is meant for an NPC who's soul was taken by orcus, and its not very PC friendly imo. Its essentially a lot of great boons at the cast of being impossible to resurrect and having Demon Lord Orcus able to take over your body for whatever he wants. Your allowed to have him roleplaying be this sort of thing though, or even making your own custom template that you think is more fair.

Outside of something like PFS, what's allowed is anything you personally want to allow. Welcome to being the GM.

This is both the boon and the curse of being the GM. You want to be the good and kind GM who allows players to play what they want, but at the same time you want to stay true to the flavor of the world the game is set in and you want to at least try for some balance... How do you decide? The headache of being a GM :P

With this template the PC has immunity to cure spells , he is destroyed at 0 hitpoint and he cannot be raised or resurrected. This together with no desire to remain alive and true amorality sounds really funny ... not.

An evil game is a challenge on its own. There will be at least one CE character/player that murders and destroys everything in his path because he is evil. With this template you go a step further. The CE character wants to stay alive .. the soulless wants to die.

When the player is a good roleplayer than ask him about his ideas and intentions. Otherwise dont allow it.

When you want to check something, go on d20pfsrd and watch for the right panel to see if it is 3pp. You might want to check again and see the bottom line "Copyright notes", it gives you from which book it comes from.

If you want to stay strictly core (my advice for a GM beginner) and go by your own world, stay on the PRD given online by Paizo.

If you want to play on Golarion, the campaign setting from Paizo, here you'll need to go on D20pfsrd and read the bottom of the page often to see the source.
