Urgent help needed, in the middle of a game, need a quick response about combat checks

Can I play both a spell and a weapon on a single combat check?

I'm playing lem and I have a lightning bolt and a cross bow in my hand, can I use them both? I'm assuming no.

But, is this rule different for items? Can I play a wand of scorching ray and my death bane crossbow on the same combat check?

I read the rule book but I'm still unsure

No. You may only play one card or power that says "For your combat check."

Just to be sure, you're making a reference to cards that goes along the lines of weapons, meaning "for your check, use THIS instead of the other dice", right?

For example, Lini's 2nd ability about revealing an animal to add 1d4 to the check still CAN be used with a spell, blessing, weapon, or anything else, right?

Yes.

Does anyone else find it amazing that a new poster asked a question and the designer of the game answered the question within one minute!? This is such a great community!

It was 3 am on a Sunday night. Aren't all game designers available at that hour?

Seriously. If you are going to make a game, you should at least have the common courtesy to be available at 3 am on a Sunday night from time to time in case someone has a question. There was a time when that went with out saying.
