Lol, this reminds me of a game the wife and I played about 10 years ago. She decided her character was going to hide in the grass so I asked how tall was the grass. Well, the dm said about 3". So we teased her character for the rest of the game of trying to hide behind a blade of grass! Sounds like this grass will be a lot more dangerous though!

Mystic Theurge isn't what it was in 3.5, but it will be what she will take in the mean time. She is only a 3rd level druid though, more in wizard. She wants to augment her summoning abilities. They are not unkillable though, I killed one Friday night as my only PC death. He did keep the party alive long enough for them to kill the monster though. He even got it to gargantuan size between wild shape and animal growth. But a crit from a Storm Giant Skeletal Champion is nasty! 8d6+76 with it power attacking.

OK, Tom my wife was just asking for help for her character last night. She has a druid/wizard and doesn't like the current options. She likes the old Hierophant from 3.5. If anyone else has ideas please chime in.
I'll see what I can do in that vein. Kind of tough though to work around wild shape, so I think it's more feasible putting a druid body on a wizard chassis.

3.5 mystic theurge: only advanced both spellcasting classes.
pF mystic theurge : exact same thing + has class features

Yeah, except what was even crazier was what the Paladin was able to do with a +2 Holy heavy flail with Smite and Judgement from the Inquisitor. It was over a 100 HP. Am starting to consider S&W myself. Now if I could get more than one of my players to go along.

The title reminds me of a 2nd ed game I ran. The players got shipwrecked, and found a vast savanna. It was probably one of the few times the party was in serous danger of dying from thirst and hunger. Their only saving grace was when the Barbarian player noticed the Wizard knew Herbalism.
I still remember the look on the player's face when the Barbarian player pointed out that he could use it to determine what was safe to eat. I'm convinced they were just a day away from killing and eating his familiar.
That, the Ankeg encounter, and the Blood Blade, has stuck in my mind for years.
That said I can't wait to see what you'll come up with Tom.

She wanted suggestions for her character and sent some things she found that she thought you might like to use. She wants to blend the wizard and druid with the focus on her wild shape. Sorry I missed this with weekend gaming.
I'll see what I can do with that. I have a concept in mind, I just have to smooth out the mechanical edges.
