Placing a glamour on an simple object

Rules Questions

Dark Archive

Can anyone point to the rules and costs on placing a glamour on an object (say a piece of jewellery) so that it appears as another object of similar size?

What I'm looking at doing is taking an insignia and placing a glamour on it so it just looks like a normal necklace piece but can be revealed or concealed with the command word.

If it also happens to not radiate magic that would be awesome, if not a permanent Mask Dweomer or Magic Aura to hide it.

Hat of disguise is an inexpensive magic item, but that's for an entire outfit. I can't see this enchantment costing a lot. Is there a cantrip that would work?

Not that I have found.
I already have a hat of disguise but this is for something that I may need to take on and off

This is essentially a hat of disguise with a more limited scope; it only affects the item itself, not the wearer, and doesn't offer a skill boost. The spell used to craft it would also be Disguise Self, but it might only cost, say, 600 gold.

So basically talk to GM.
Would something similar to the weapon property glamoured but at a reduced price since its not for a weapon?

I would say Permanent Image would fit the bill. Hiring a Spellcaster to cast the spell would cost 660gp.

Quote:
By concentrating, you can move the image within the limits of the range, but it is static while you are not concentrating.

You concentrate for a moment and move the image so what is underneath it can be revealed.

As for not showing up under detect magic. Enchant it with a Magic Aura spell. Have it enchanted that once per day you must speak a command word and the magic on the amulet it affected as per the magic aura spell. This enchantment would cost 360 gold (1st level spell * first level caster * 1800 * once per day) (1*1*1800*.2)

So the item costs a total of 1020 gold (which is really too expensive), so just use a Pathfinder's pouch instead and hide your amulet in it, along with all your secret documents in it.

Veil would work well for this sort of thing, but brings up it's own problems.
