I did the math.
There are only 2 major cities (Endholme and Eastgate), a citadel (Telar Brindel) and a "place of interest" (Amrin Ferry) along the journey, and none of these are within more than 350 miles of the ruin. Yet in RA's fluff it mentions that "Coastal patrols from nearby cities try to keep bandits and other malicious creatures clear of the [Sea Coast] road by day; by night is a different matter" (RA 12).
As I said; there are no cities shown on the map within hundreds of miles of the dungeon environs. The Sea Coast Road itself shows no cities at all along the stretch I can see on this document anyway. The road cuts off at the top so maybe there's something up there. This means that either I ignore the fluff (totally fine), patrols from Endholme and Eastgate have magic portals on the roadside (not my cup of tea, setting-wise) or there are smaller settlements along the road not noted on the map.
I think I'm going to choose that third option when I go to make this campaign my own. These are largely unsettled lands from the fluff I've read in both books. I'm thinking of scattering towns, supported by villages and hamlets, every 30 miles or so along the road. These clusters won't always be right ON the road and the PCs might miss them or choose to bypass them and stick to the road. At least a few of these places though have got to be big enough to muster the "Coastal patrols" from the aforementioned fluff.
One of the major themes I want to push is "man vs wild" in this campaign. The meager toehold civilization has in the region and what's being done to increase it. As such one of the side plots is going to revolve around dealing with the reasons why the ruined fort stays ruined and possibly rebuilding it once more as a new outpost of civilization. I don't know if my players will take the job or if their characters will survive long enough to see it come to fruition, but what the heck right?

I got my books in Orlando, FL yesterday; they're beautiful and in great condition. I had maps (nicely done) and a copy of Slumbering Tsar that I will keep by my bed to swing at any intruders who enter my home.
I'll also start doing 3 sets of 15 curls with it before I go to sleep every night. I'll be back in shape in no time.
In all seriousness, I'm still smiling just thinking about when I opened my package. I genuinely feel like my money was WELL spent. Good job to all those at the pond who poured into this project and all the other quality products they consistently produce. Also, congratz to us in the community who pool our money together to help make this a reality.
*Edit for spelling.

Mine overshot NE Ohio and is in PA, so hopefully it'll be back in my state tomorrow.
Gotta love the USPS, why deliver directly to NE Ohio when you can just send it on a field trip to Pennsyltucky? (Ohio Joke, you gotta live here to understand it)
Mine did the exact same thing- also to NE Ohio via Penne. The USPS seems to work like a party of 1st level adventurers, getting lost from point A to point B, even when they have a map (MY maps!!) and a garmin-guide...

It's not like there isn't this large metropolis called "Cleveland" in NE Ohio, even though I'm in Youngstown. That would seem to be the more logical dropping off point.
Or Akron!! Only 45 minutes away!!

I live in Alaska. So, you would think that my packages from Paizo or Frog God head north from Washington. The one time I attempted to track a package from Paizo last December, it went to California first, then BACK to Washington before heading north - and thus took weeks longer than it should have. You can't apply logistics or anything that makes sense and saves money to the USPS.

Interestingly here in Plymouth, MN there are 2 post offices; one in the middle of town and one on the extreme east which on most offcial maps is considered Minneapolis. Because of the zip codes and boundaries when I lived a block and a half from the one in the middle, all of my stuff went to the one nearly 3 miles from my house and it routed through Minneapolis, delaying all mail by an extra day usually.
Now a few weeks ago I moved to the east side of town. You guessed it; now my mail goes direct to plymouth for final sort and delivery, but it comes out of the post office in the middle of the town.
I will never understand. I will only smile as I tear open more FGG boxes. Kaiser, I had the same reaction when I opened up my Barakus/Rappan Athuk combo. Per my wife when she got home a half hour later I still had a goofy grin on my face.

My uncle has worked for the USPS for over 30 years now (as a carrier), and even he doesn't understand the logic of their 'system'. He has a slightly better insight, but that doesn't make it logical. When I checked the tracking this morning and it said "Delivery to Canton, OH address, 9:50am", I ran to the door to see where it was... and then I remembered that we were having our mail held at the post office since we were on the road the last several days. BUT now it's here! Hurrah huzzah!

My ex-neighbor (Who I still see frequently) is a mail carrier, and his quote always is the same when it comes to the US Mail, "Don't get me started."
My package left Warrendale, PA, this morning. I'm assuming it will be at my post office tonight for delivery tomorrow. I suppose I should GoogleMap Warrendale and make sure they didn't ship it to the Philadelphia side of the state before I make that assumption.

Sigh. Alright. I made it back to work. BUT... am 110% thrilled at Barakus - and just as thrilled at Tsar... it is... MASSIVE. I didn't realize Tsar was signed / numbered either - that's fantastic.
The maps are beautiful - my next campaign is already expected to be along the Sinnar Coast!
Great, great job, Frogs.

Hey skeeter, I just noticed I haven't got that RA sub 6 file showing up on my file list either. Still shows just the first 4, any chance viking frog can fix that for me as well?
It should show something like one of these (all 6 in one folder):
02/02/2014 Rappan Athuk Issues 1-6 (SW).zip 4/Unlimited
02/02/2014 Rappan Athuk Issues 1-6 (PF).zip 2/Unlimited

02/02/2014 Cyclopean Deeps Issues 1-6 (PF).zip 2/Unlimited
02/02/2014 Cyclopean Deeps Issues 7-12 (PF).zip 2/Unlimited
Obviously the CD Issues 7-12 are empty as of now, the others have RA or CD 1,2,3,4&5 PDF and the compilation PDF Volume 1 (which has 1 ~ 6 in it)

anyone who doesn't see the file, please submit a ticket on the website, so Viking can see if it got loaded. But PLEASE verify its not just hiding in a zip file, no reason to have Chris do work if you just missed it.
And THANK YOU for your patience on these files. We've undergone a LOT of changes recently, and they haven't all gone smoothly. We hope the product has been worth the weight!

ps--eta for Sword of Air is Nov/December, with nuclear editions 2-3 months later (custom blacksmith job). Its all written and being skeeterized right now. Art is the main cause of delay.
Thanks for the update, though I don't envy you when packing up my box for that come Nov/Dec. We filled the back catalog with that one. :)
Also is there a button that says 'Skeeterize' somewhere in the FGG lair? :)

Mach--I personally packed your books for shipment yesterday. Greg--same for you!
The wife and slaves...errrr...kids are finishing packing today and we are shipping all this week and next. Shipping is tough since each package has a different weight and have to be done manually.
Thanks Bill that is awesome news, pass my thanks on to the worker bees too :D
I really enjoyed the BoDT, and I am about to start on Barakus. Should be finished in time for the RA and CD subs to turn up - then onto SoA! I shall stop refreshing the SoA page for a while then, I have a $50 voucher burning a hole in my e-pocket.
With the new 5E books thrown in there somewhere...
so many books so little time!

Ok, not meaning to nic pic or complain, just a question:
page 82
Area 1-18: Firing Range
Twees, ever the diligent leader, has set up a small firing range here
where his troops can practice their marksmanship. Standing at the western
end of the cave are three four-foot high stuffed dummies. At the moment,
6 kobolds are honing their crossbow skills.
Kobolds (6): HD 1d4hp; HP 3, 2x3, 1, 4; AC 7[12]; Atk spear
(1d6) or shortbow x2 (1d6); Move 6; Save 18; AL C; CL/XP
A/15; Special: none.
Equipment: spear, shortbow, 6 arrows, 1d8cp.
So, do these kobold have crossbows or short bows?

brvheart |

Thanks Skeeter:) That is what I went with. Sorry, this is my first foray with S&W so I am probably going to ask some stupid questions! The dang mage cast sleep on them anyway, grrr. Same thing he did with the spiders. Now he is out of spells so they are planning on sleeping in the spiders old lair. We actually had six people for the game so it was a lot of fun! Will be better once I get the hard copy and am not jumping back and forth from my laptop. It is too big to bring to the table and the wife grabbed my tablet for the day.

No worries, question away! A lot of this stuff gets written with Bill's house rules, were every weapon except darts does a d6 for damage, so some of the descriptions may have gone astray. I did try and place everything according to the S&W Complete rulebook, so mistakes should be minimal.
Sleep is the hands down favorite magic-user spell in S&W, for very good reasons....wait til they get phantasmal force, and understand how to use it very, very effectively!
