Heightened, widened ioun torch

How much would a heightened, widened ioun torch cost if the heightened was +3 levels?

How much for just heightened to 4th lv ioun torch?

Shadow Lodge

So looking up buying spell casting it looks like it would only be about 1040gp, of course you need a 13th lv caster with heighten and widen feats.....seems cheap.

You can't widen it as it's not an area effect spell.

Right, its a touch spell that the effect is an emanation. Missed that, to bad sigh.

Widen Spell (Metamagic)

You can cast your spells so that they occupy a larger space.

Benefit: You can alter a burst, emanation, or spread-shaped spell to increase its area.

FYI - but continual flame isn't an emanation either. It just sheds light like a torch.

If you could do it, you'd need a 17th level cleric, or 15th level wizard to cast this. 3rd/2nd level spell + 3 widen + 3 heighten = 9th/8th level spell. 17th for a heightened/widened daylight.

technically, a 4th level heightened Continual Flame should cost 330gp (plus the cost of a dead ioun stone).

As a GM, I'd add a premium, as it seems a cheesy way to neutralize most, if not all, magical darkness.

At least until it's dispelled.

I see where I was going wrong. In 3.5 the Radiant Servent of Pelor doubled the light spells with a class ability and I had always thought it just got the widen feat limited to light spells.

As a decent level adventurer I'd probably buy a handful. It's not like they're expensive.

One of my players spent his last downtime spamming continual light[flame?]spells on anything he could get...coppers, nails, wooden cubes, marbles...ecetera.

In our first ed. games he apparently never thought of casting that spell on any of the dead ioun stones they have been tossing out...

I'll have the npc scribe/cartographer show up with one next gaming day...should be fun!

Continual Flame wizard/sorcerer 2, Heightened to 4th, Widen +3 = 7th lv so if widen had been a legal feat to use we would have had:

caster lv 13 x spell lv 7 = 91 x services bought 10 = 910 + dull grey iuon stone 25 = 935 + material component 50 = 985gp.

Still need to find a city that would have a 13th lv caster but would have been fairly cheap.

Shadow Lodge

But since Widen feat is not a legal feat for light spells @Ramarren is right about the cost.

Continual Flame wizard/sorcerer 2 heightened to 4th lv.

Caster lv 7 x spell lv 4 = 28 x services bought 10 = 280 + dull grey iuon stone 25 = 305 + material component 50 = 355gp.
