cleric holy symbol and channel smite

I am building my cleric/fighter to be a part time DPS with channel smite through his 2 handed weapon. But in a cleric having to hold/touch the holy symbol to channel, how do I have part of the weapon's grip turned into a holy symbol and does that cost extra in the cost of the weapon? - basically a masterwork great Axe with the Holy symbol for Gorum as a hand placement

They actual rule is that you need to present your holy symbol to channel energy, it does not state you need a free hand to do so. Many GMs though add that extra rule into the ability but it is not there.

There are many ways to present your holy symbol other then holding it with a hand. There are quite a few options of holy symbols outside of a amulet to include making you sword one.

Thanks for the clarification. I was planning on having a holy symbol hanging outside the armor as a necklace until I had the gold for the mithril full plate in which it would be "welded" on. So as long as the symbol is present and visable, even in pfs, I do not need to grab it or hold it?

Since there are already items with holy symbols built into them, as an upgrade, in Adventurer's Armory you are unable to attach holy symbols to armor.

No need to resort to silly things like that. You can make your axe a consecrated weapon so that it among other things, can act as a holy symbol. As a bonus you even get a shitty Channel Smite if you want.
