Exotic weapon master?

Advice

So, beyong the "simple" & popular exotic weapons (IE falcata, katana, wakizashi, bastard sword), has anybody tried to make an interesting build around weird exotic weapons?

Scarab Sages

I have a few ideas that I haven't had a chance to play yet:

Human TWF ranger with a Gnome Hook Hammer. It's a really fun weapon and you never see non-gnomes use them.

Reach spell caster with a Flying blade. You cast on your turn so you don't worry about the minus 2 to hit but you get +2 to hit on your AoOs. Probably do this one with some flavor of Summoner/Cleric/Oracle/Bard.

Warpriest of Calistria. Real damage with a whip from sacred weapon and the whip mastery lines. You can use reach cleric tactics or just self buff from fervor and go.

A sailor who specializes in the boarding gaff and the grappling hook. He can hook him with one and reel them in with the other. I am mostly sticking to Lore Warden with this build, as I will be focusing on a could of combat maneuvers, but the feat cost for two exotic weapons is a bit concerning.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have a Tiefling who collects exotic weapons. He craves glory and takes prizes from those he's slain over the nearly two centuries he's lived. Dipped fighter for some armor and shield proficiencies and then went evangelist cleric and turned him into a war singer.

Arms Master + Quick Learner.

Although I think it may only allow either trait to reduce the penalty to -2 we ruled that they both stacked and after the first swing of any combat the penalty goes from -2 to 0.

Even just a -2 penalty to use any weapon isn't bad for some classes. Picking the right weapons training on a fighter can mitigate this quickly or a barbarian raging.

Wrestler/Librarian/Painter/Short person/Ladderman that uses the Gnome Battle Ladder.

I have wanted to make a fighter/monk using the rope dart for as long as I have known it was in Pathfinder.

A Weapon Adept Monk that uses the Double-Chained Kama to make 2-handed reach attacks using flurry of blows. Get enlarged, add Combat Reflexes, and enjoy your massive threatened area.

Shadow Lodge

Totally going to make a Tekko-Kagi Brawler when the ACG comes out. Also going to have Armor Spikes and a Dwarven Boulder Helmet on him [for Flavor].

Also, I've been wanting to make a Rogue with a Tekko-Kagi and Catch-Off Guard, to combine no-AoO Disarm with the flat-footed aspect of Improvised Weapons for free sneak attack. Makes EWP[Tekko-Kagi] a better choice then Improved Disarm for a Weapon-Snatcher Rogue.

Grand Lodge

Actually the Brawler when it finally drops in it's final Form will be a class that might be using some of the close weapons people don't typically use.

Take notice of the Barbarian in the Purple Pants...she never even puts down her purse. And makes wonderful use of the Snatch/deflect Chairs feat.
