Hey all!
I have a character that I play in a PbP that is going to pick up the Craft Staff feat.
Here is a link to that characters Class...

And spell list..

The class is a little wonky.
It's a full progression spontaneous caster with all class spells known. But it uses Adept level spells per day and can choose whether it has Cha or Wis for a casting stat. And it gets a domain.
Anyways the point of the thread is that while the class gets a lot of Transmutation and Enchantment early, it has 0 damage, and weve been fighting lots of undead immune to a lot of my usual stuff. Our DM is also very combative in nature, and likes to make very complicated encounters that nullify a lot of the basic buffs like Hastes and Fly.
Point being, I feel like I want to make a few staves to cover damage and some utility I don't have on my list. My UMD is high enough I can activate a scroll of the spell going into the staff without much problem.
I was looking for help and ideas. Here's what I have so far.
Staff of the Wicked Witch
Fly (or rather, my Blood Witch version of it)
Fireball or Call Lightning
Fog Cloud or some other mist spell
As I understand it, I have to buy these at min spell lvl 8, but when casting I use my own level and stats for the effects and saves. Can I use metamagic feats on these spell when imbuing them into the staff?

Staff of the Wicked Witch
Fly (2 charges) 400 x 3 x 8 / 2 = 4800
Call Lightning (1 charge) 300 x 3 x 8 = 7200
Fog Cloud (1 charge) 200 x 2 x 8 = 3200
Total cost = 15200 gp
Market Price = 30400 gp
Staves are priced at the spell's minimum caster level or caster level 8, whichever is higher.
When you cast the spell out of the staff, you use your own caster level or the caster level of the staff, whichever is higher.
You also use your own ability score modifier and feats for the DC of the spell.

Fixed the links for you. :-)

Nope. Staves are crafted at a minimum level of the greater of 8 and the lowest caster level that can cast each of the spells on it. For example, if you need CL 11 for one of the spells, the staff has a minimum of CL 11. If no spell needs more than a CL of 5, the staff has a minimum of CL 8.
CRB p553: "The caster level of all spells in a staff must be the same, and no staff can have a caster level of less than 8th, even if all the spells in the staff are low-level spells."

Thanks on both counts, I appreciate the input.
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the first staff, but have some money earmarked for a second.
I'm trying to find good spells not on my class list to cover my weaknesses and adding at least one that is, so I can recharge the darn thing.
How are you planning on toting all these staves around? I know there are answers to that, but how are YOU doing it?

If not going the efficient quiver route...
A PC can wield a 2-h weapon that is two sizes smaller with 1 hand. Tiny staves for a medium creature or diminutive for small (-4 to hit penalty as weapons).
Weapon Size
Every weapon has a size category. This designation indicates the size of the creature for which the weapon was designed.
A weapon's size category isn't the same as its size as an object. Instead, a weapon's size category is keyed to the size of the intended wielder. In general, a light weapon is an object two size categories smaller than the wielder, a one-handed weapon is an object one size category smaller than the wielder, and a two-handed weapon is an object of the same size category as the wielder.
Inappropriately Sized Weapons: A creature can't make optimum use of a weapon that isn't properly sized for it. A cumulative –2 penalty applies on attack rolls for each size category of difference between the size of its intended wielder and the size of its actual wielder. If the creature isn't proficient with the weapon, a –4 nonproficiency penalty also applies.
The measure of how much effort it takes to use a weapon (whether the weapon is designated as a light, one-handed, or two-handed weapon for a particular wielder) is altered by one step for each size category of difference between the wielder's size and the size of the creature for which the weapon was designed. For example, a Small creature would wield a Medium one-handed weapon as a two-handed weapon. If a weapon's designation would be changed to something other than light, one-handed, or two-handed by this alteration, the creature can't wield the weapon at all.

PF rules only allow you to bond to one staff at a time and only restore one charge per day. Unless you find a staff, or are worried about loosing/breaking a staff, it is probably better to place all spells into a single staff. It is also [usually] cheaper.
If the second staff is only low level spells, you might get a cohort or follower to do the recharging for you, but that requires the leadership feat.
Skimming the class description, you probably do not want to use the staff as a weapon. However, if you do, note that not all staffs are two handed. The Hanbo (eastern weapon) is one such.
For spells, there are the various shadow spells. Fits with the theme, and the damage is partly real. These spells are very versatile. Some additional possibilities:
Chill Touch -- frighten undead
Hallow -- hurts undead / helps you
Flame Blade -- energy weapon (also cauterizes, so no spilled blood)
Pit spells -- battlefield control
Entangle -- battlefield control
Mage Armor / Shield -- more AC is always nice
There is also a feat to make mind affecting spells affect undead. You should look into it.

Thanks for the replies.
I hadn't realized a caster could only recharge one staff per day, but there it is right there at the bottom of the paragraph.
As for toting them about, there's a number of options. The quiver is one, staff holsters would be another, the same as a barbarian carries around multiple weapons.
