spell combat, myrmidarch, and ranged spell strike

Rules Questions

Discussed well over a dozen times, the magus can use arcane mark as part of a psudo "two weapon fighting" trick. This raises the question of the ranged spell strike and the 0 lvl spell I believe called acid splash

At a -2 penalty would lets say as an example a magus using a bow at lvl 4 get two attacks on a full attack? The normal one then a ranged spell strike of acid splash channelled through the bow? If yes, would I be able to rapid shot? Or later leveled even manyshot?

This is perplexing, also this is my first post so sorry if this has been answered before :p

Casting Acid Splash gives you a free shot with your ranged weapon to deliver the spell.

The problem is, Spell Combat requires you to have a one-handed (or light) melee weapon and a free hand. Pretty hard to combine those requirements with a decent ranged attack.

I think you can cheat the problem with a swordcane-pistol.

Short answer, nope you can't.
Work around answer, don't use a bow. Either get a throwing weapon weapon (dagger, chakram, dart, handaxe, etc) and use that or buy a pistol.
With those options (and quickdraw, rapid reload) you can get it to work. Clumsily.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't believe the mymridarch is supposed to be a ranged combatant. Sure, he gets ranged spellstrike, but nothing else really shouts out "Ranged combatant here!".

Can't use spell combat with ranged weapons either, but because of the wording, you can still use a standard action to cast a ray spell, and then get a free weapon attack to deliver that spell.

Spell combat requires a *melee* weapon, so even obscure combinations won't work. Best bet is as what Mathwei said, get melee weapons with a throwing distance (There's actually some potential here...).

Frodoof9: I believe it's flavor text would say that it is supposed to be a combo of ranged and melee. "The myrmidarch is a skilled specialist, using magic to supplement and augment his martial mastery. Less inclined to mix the two than a typical magus, the myrmidarch seeks supremacy with blade, bow, and armor."

In sort of a loop hole fashion you could attach a bayonet to a pistol and use that to spell combat spellstrike with acid splash :)
