Slotless Wondrous Item Creation: Double Price - This a real rule or a 3rd party thing?

Rules Questions

Just curious. I've been searching my succubus off. (Autocorrected tuccus)

Some people on here mentioned a rule about making wondrous items slotless by simply doubling the price. However, I can't find this rule ANYWHERE. Not in the Core, not in the SRD, nowhere.

Can someone point me in the right direction to find this rule, or perhaps clarify a bit on this? It's been driving me nuts since I can't find it no matter how much I read.

It's in the CRB, in the section about creating new magic items. Each slotless item is a new, custom magic items, requiring not only the absence of a ban but actual positive approval from the GM.

It's easy to miss.

Core Rulebook > Magic Items > Magic Item Creation > Magic Item Gold Piece Values > Table: Estimating Magic Item Gold Piece Values > Footnote 3

"An item that does not take up one of the spaces on a body costs double."

Linkage

Oh! Thank you both!

Well, it was mostly for the Inscribe Magic Tattoo feat. I wanted to use it, but one of my friends said it was quite broken to be able to make a slotless wondrous item that doesn't take up a slot.

So with this, I think I can persuade him otherwise.

Inscribe magical tattoo is super burly, but the cost is astronomical!

A Belt of giant strength +2 costs 4,000gp to buy. A tattoo of the same costs 8,000gp to buy.

Where the inscribe tattoo really shines is that you can have your tattoo belt, and a worn belt.

Or a tattoo of Muleback Cords and a cloak of resistance.

The sorcerer in my campaign (Tattooed Sorcerer archetype, Varisian Tattoos feat) is keeping the theme and taking inscribe magical tattoo and will probably be dumping most of her earned gold into her inks.

Oh? Does taking the Inscribe Magical Tattoo not count as the Craft Wondrous Item feat for creation price purposes, though double the cost due to them being slot-less?

Like... most of the time if you use Craft Wondrous Item, you pay half of the cost for the item in components, no? Would the doubling cost for the slot-less items not just end up being equal to the exact cost of the item as if you didn't have a feat then? Or does it double elsewhere?

A belt of Giant Strength +2 is 4,000gp to buy (2,000gp to make with craft wondrous item)
A tattoo of Giant Strength +2 is 8,000gp to buy (4,000gp to make with Inscribe magical tattoo.)

:) Alrighty. Exactly what I was getting at.

So, that wraps everything up for me. Thank you all so very much :D Been a great help!

You're quite welcome. :)
