Blocking Weapons

Advice

I think the concept behind the blocking weapon trait is very cool and I'd veyr much like to use it. However, as it is it sucks. It's stuck at +1, doesn't stack with an off-hand, doesn't stack with Two-Weapon Defense. Is there any way to optimize this or am I just gonna have to houserule something?

I think blocking weapon is best while using Nine-Section Whip by a monk. basically give monk more options in melee combat. He can choose to flurry of blows with it to fish for crits, or fight defensively when he every AC counts without casting spells through ki. Also can distract opponent if AC and flurry of blows won't help. And monk doesn't have to spend feat to get that +1 shield AC. Personally, I don't like how blocking weapons won't stack with off hand. But I guess if they stack, there is no point using a light shield. People will just get two block weapons for that +2 AC.

Well, there is only one one-handed blocking weapon IIRC (the tonfa) and it kinda sucks (1d6, crit x2). Longsword + heavy shield is better than dual tonfas even if stacking, specially since a shield can be enchanted for better AC while tonfas can't.

Yes, but that way they can make sure you won't have as much AC as a shield fighter. Of course shield is better than a blocking weapon, that's what shield for. I do understand your pain though, it would be cool to have cool weapons while not suck.
