How To Make A Barber Surgeon Cleric / Oracle

Advice

I'm making either a cleric or oracle for an upcoming game, and I thought it would be fun to make him a barber surgeon! Subsequently, I've been trying to come up with stuff to give him that barber surgeon flavor.

In terms of equipment, I definitely need a leeching kit and surgeon's tools. An extraction scarificator would be great too.

I also want a Caladrius bird familiar. Theodoric of York had one, so why not me? I don't know how a cleric or oracle would go about getting one, though.

And, of course, I will need to be proficient with a war razor.

If I'm a cleric, my domains should reflect my trade. Since the four humors are connected to the four elements, it would be cool to choose the Air, Earth, Fire, and Water domains (with GM approval). If my GM doesn't go for that, the Seasons subdomain could work, since the humors are linked to those, too. Not sure what my second domain would be. Maybe War or Tactics.

If I'm an oracle, that's a little tougher. The Battle mystery could work, since barber surgeons often treated soldiers. Some combination of the Wind, Stone, Flames, and Waves mysteries would be cool, but I'm not sure. I'm also considering the Elementalist archtype.

What would you do to give a character that barber surgeon flavor? Would you choose a cleric or oracle? Please note, I am not interested in the Chirurgeon alchemist archetype.

On your Cleric idea (4 Domains) consider asking your GM if he'll homebrew that for you. It sounds cool, and with a significant trade-off (loss of Channel Energy? Must "prepare" your 4 Domain Abilities every day?) shouldn't be overpowered.

Love the references to barber-surgeon!

Battle Oracle seems the best best, IMO. Level 1 Revelation being Skill at Arms, of course, for access to the War Razor, along with a few nifty armor proficiencies.

As for the Caladrius Bird, you can take Eldritch Heritage at level 3 (being a Cha-based character, this shouldn't be too hard to pull off) for access to Arcane bloodline's Arcane Bond (familiar) - something that would allow you to deliver your cure spells to distant targets! Something like a Thrush seems to fit the bill, while adding to your (somewhat limited) skills!

I can't think of a specific way to introduce the "four humors" mechanically, but you could always re-flavor your spells in such a way as to give them notice.

Hope this helps, and have fun!

It does seem like an Oracle is the way to go, mainly because it gives me everything I want without bending any rules.

The equipment and familiar I can get no matter what, but being a Battle Oracle would enable me to wield a War Razor, and I could take the Elementalist archetype to represent the four humors.

Sounds pretty awesome!

I am going to suggest Chirurgeon.

It is the most thematically fitting, and you can still get a Familiar.

If you don't like the idea of bombs, this archetype stacks with Vivisectionist.

Barbers seem more similar to Bards than Clerics.
You could go cleric/ oracle, however. Choose two elementals domains, then ask permission to use the Mixed-Mystery Oracle archetype (from Rite Publishing) and take the other two elements as your mysteries. Use Eldritch Heritage to take a familiar.
Or else, go druid. Druids have powers tied to all four elements, without having to bother. Take a bird companion.
Cleric/Shaman could be the best. Your familiar could have an elemental quirk. Or either, only Shaman. You could choose a fixed element as your first spirit and take the others in turn every day.

Crap. I missed that last line.

Scarab Sages

Are you familiar with 2nd Edition's AL-QADIM Arabian Adventures setting? They had Barber as a Rogue/Bard kit. Actually, I recommend you and anyone else check out AL-QADIM and other 2nd Edition gems on general principles, if you haven't already.

Anyways, I echo previous sentiments that you would be better served as a Bard, or perhaps a multiclass Bard/Rogue. The Sandman kit is another option with its own various virtues, but its Sneak Attack is WAY weaker than an evenly-split Bard/Rogue, and if you're going to be an adventuring barber, surely you have to be at least a little bit Sweeney Todd. Other good options could include Court Bard, Street Performer, Songhealer, and maybe Arcane Duelist, Archaeologist, or even Dirge Bard.

Another possibility you may or may not like, since you originally expressed a vision of a divine magician, is an Inquisitor, since it's meant to be Pathfinder's resident priest/thief hybrid - I'd recommend the Infiltrator kit, since it substitutes much of the standard Inquisitor's intimidation/manhunting spiel with greater powers of transgressing boundaries and messing with people more suited to the character of the barber. Depending on your personal vision, the Conversion, Fate, Illumination, Oblivion, Reformation, Restoration, Torture, and Truth Inquisitions could all complement a barber-inquisitor well. You'd probably also like the Blood Domain.
