Losing the check to Iesha Foxglove

Hi All,

Seoni just lost the check to defeat Iesha Floxglove (needed a 13 against Charisma and rolled a pesky 11).

Our question is does Seoni take 2 damage here? We're assuming so as it's a villain/monster/bane? The reason we ask is that it doesn't have the check to defeat as combat.

Of course. You always take damage from failing a check to defeat a monster, and it is always combat damage unless the card says otherwise

Iesha is a Monster. When you fail a check to defeat a Monster, no matter what the check is, you take damage equal to the difference between the check difficulty and the die roll

How do you defeat her with magic since it is a Charisma/divine check? We had trouble thinking of a way.

Only Kyra can. She has a power to add 1d8 to any check to defeat a monster with the undead trait. It does not have to specifically be a combat check. Any check to defeat an undead bane gets that bonus for her.

So, you can't use 'Holy Light' for your divine check to defeat her? Also do these 'guest villains' (ones that are summoned <ms. foxglove, sandpoint devil, etc) close locations if defeated?

No and no. Holy Light allows you to make a combat check, not a divine check. And summoned henchman and villains never allow you to close a location.

Note that you can still pass the check and take no damage or ill consequences with a non-Kyra character, you just need Kyra if you want to get the bonus for defeating Iesha.
